A 19-year-old lady, deeply hurt and distressed, has publicly called on traditional deities to punish a man identified only as Kelvin and his family.

Her accusation? Kelvin allegedly went around telling people that he had slept with her – a claim she strongly denies.

What happened:

· The lady says Kelvin's claim has damaged her reputation and caused serious emotional distress
· Visibly upset, she visited a traditional junction and invoked curses using a crate of eggs and schnapps
· She called for spiritual consequences to fall on Kelvin if his claims are false
· She insists she has never had any romantic or s*xual relationship with him
· She challenges him to provide any evidence to back his allegations

She appealed to the traditional deities to intervene and expose the truth, maintaining her innocence.

⚖️ Man jailed 12 months for stealing streetlights at UENR

A young man arrested for stealing streetlights and solar batteries at the University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR) in Sunyani has been sentenced to 12 months imprisonment by the Fiapre Circuit Court.

The ruling:

· The court imposed a GH¢5,000 fine as an alternative
· He failed to pay the fine
· Consequently, he will serve 12 months behind bars

A costly lesson for vandalising public infrastructure meant to keep the campus safe and lit.

"Don't wear our party T‑shirt to collect garbage – you're disgracing us" – Angry NPP man confronts worker

A viral video has captured the moment a man, believed to be a New Patriotic Party (NPP) supporter, confronted a garbage collector (popularly known as a borla worker) for wearing an NPP branded T‑shirt while on duty.

What happened:
The visibly upset man asked the worker why he chose to wear the party's shirt to do such dirty work.

"Is this the only shirt you have?" he questioned.

According to the angry man, the garbage collector is bringing the party into disrepute by wearing their branded shirt while collecting refuse.

"You are ruining our party if you keep wearing our T‑shirt to do borla work," he said.

He then ordered the worker to remove the shirt immediately – right there on the street.

"I don't want to see you wearing this our T‑shirt again on the street while you are working as a garbage collector. Never try that again," he warned.

Mama Pat sued over alleged gold deal – court allows case to proceed in her absence

The NGO claims she has failed to appear before the court since proceedings began. However, the Accra High Court has granted permission for the case to continue in her absence.

🇿🇦 "South Africa Must Go!" – Demo Posters Surface Online

A flyer circulating on social media is calling for a demonstration against South African businesses and nationals in Ghana, bearing the slogan: "ENOUGH IS ENOUGH DEMO – SOUTH AFRICA must go!"

The poster includes a phone number and has sparked heated reactions online.
The context:
The call comes in the wake of renewed xenophobic attacks on Ghanaian and other African nationals in South Africa, including looting of shops, violence, and even loss of life.

Transport fares to rise 20% from June 2

The Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU) has announced a 20% increase in public transport fares, effective Tuesday, June 2, 2026.

The decision, made in consultation with the Commercial Transport Operators of Ghana, affects all categories of public transport nationwide – including trotro, inter-city buses, and shared taxis.

Why now?
According to a joint statement issued Friday, the increase has become unavoidable due to:
• The sustained rise in fuel prices
• The escalating cost of spare parts (tyres, engine oil, batteries)
• Rising insurance premiums and overall vehicle maintenance

Reactions:
While some commuters have expressed concern, the Chamber of Petroleum Consumers (COPEC) has called the hike "reasonable", noting that operators voluntarily reduced fares when fuel prices previously dropped.

What commuters can expect:
A trip that currently costs GH¢100 will rise to approximately GH¢120 under the new rates. A GH¢10 fare will increase to around GH¢12.

The unions have warned drivers and mates against overcharging and stated that taskforces, in collaboration with the Police MTTD, will monitor compliance.

"The decision was taken only after all other options were exhausted," the statement reads.

The unions have also appealed to government to review taxes on spare parts and help stabilise fuel prices.
