Some illustrations from my future memoir, "No Place Like Home". 🧡🏠 Please swipe right to see more.

I tried to show past and recent memories that capture the isolation as a child, the effects it had on me as an adult and how I'm creating an identity and life for myself now.

Short poetry verses accompany the images, like inner thoughts kept quiet inside.

Really pleased with how these turned out. The project itself was a surprisingly therapeutic process.

This year has arguably been the worst year of my life, and back in April, I nearly decided it would be the last. But I beat my blood clots. It's the best news I've had in a long time.
-
It's been 4 years and 7 months since my haemorrhage during extubation after surgery and developing chronic multiple pulmonary emboli in both lungs.
-
It's been 2 years and 7 months since I had to start blood thinners.
-
It's been 2 days since I came off them.
-
My clotting disorder is gone, and the clots have shrunk. When I have future procedures, surgeries and in-hospital stays, or extended bed rest after, I'll have extra precautions taken and injected thinners if needed.
-
But I have finally come to the end of this traumatic period in my life. This is the scariest health condition I have faced so far and the only health condition that I've overcome. My body has worked hard, and so have I.
-
Needless to say, therapy is needed after nearly half a decade with blood clots, making my lungs and my mind their home.
-
But between finishing my Illustration level 5 at uni, winning the PIP I'm entitled to after a 2 year battle...and now recovering from blood clots, I had some celebratory drinks and dinner with my best friend and partner, who have been by my side every step of the way. And I couldn't be more grateful.

The battles for the rest of my health conditions are still ongoing, but it's onwards and upwards from here.

I'm an illustration student at University, studying to get my Illustration BA (Hons); and I'm looking for a client to work with on a free illustration project as part of my module on professional practice.

I am especially interested in book cover, album cover and tattoo designs, narrative work (such as comics) and advertising.
-
However, I can also take on projects that focus on the following (but not limited to):

• Zines and comics
• Tattoo designs
• Logo design
• Book and album covers
• Posters
• Editorial illustration
• Greetings card design

I can work with individuals, but I'd really enjoy the opportunity to work with a business, charity or other professional.

So I ask that you share this post, and if you know someone who may be interested, please feel free to send them my way.

This is a small project that, so I'm not able to take on projects that are too large or complex as my module hand in is in mid-December.

The work resulting from the collaboration can be used, although it doesn't have to be. Getting feedback from you and also the experience is what I'd like to get out of this collaboration.
