Perfectly camouflaged into the green pines, the male Crossbill is a ferocious hunter. I managed to capture an image recently of him slowly making his way towards the pinecone, who has no idea he's even there.
Before the pinecone even has a chance to let out a distress call to its fellow cones, the Crossbill pounces on its prey.

Female Cuckoo surprisingly landed right infront of me!

These a parasitic birds. They do not create their own nest but will instead search out another birds nest and lay their egg in it. They have become very skilled in laying eggs that match their unknowing hosts, the Reed Warbler being a particular favourite.

One the cuckoo has hatched they will often destroy the other eggs and the host parents will have a very difficult job of feeding the much larger Cuckoo.

Fallow Deer herd in West Sussex.

There's the obviosu places to go see different Deer species such as Richmond/Bushy Park in London however much prefer getting these beautiful mamals elsewhere in a more natural environment 🦌
