Video now accounts for over 82% of all consumer internet traffic (Cisco, 2023). So, if you’re not using it strategically, you’re already behind.

Before I even pick up a camera or storyboard a frame, I start with a deep dive into the your world.

Take a recent project with a luxury hospitality brand: they wanted a new video, but what they really needed was to show why guests choose them over the competition. The story wasn’t in the scenery, it was in the experience.

Here’s the process I go through to develop video ideas that don’t just “look good” but that work:

1️⃣ Start with Strategy: What’s the goal? More bookings? Greater brand recall? We define success from the start. This steers every creative decision.

2️⃣ Understand the Brand Inside Out. Not just their logo, colours or tagline, but what it feels like to be a guest. What makes them truly different? What values matter most to their audience?

3️⃣ Audit Existing Content: What’s already been created? Where are the gaps in the customer journey? I map this to their funnel and find where the video needs to do its job, not just look the part.

4️⃣ Collaborate on Concept: We don’t script from thin air. I draw from guest experiences, seasonal rhythms, team stories, and even minor rituals that define the stay. These details become the emotional hooks.

5️⃣ Build Once, Use Everywhere: I structure every video idea so it works across multiple channels, from your homepage hero section to short-form social teasers and everything in between. This isn’t a premium add-on; it’s just how I work. Every one of my service options is designed to give you versatility and great value as standard.

True or False – Effective marketing can reduce your workload?
True. And here’s how I know.

I had a first meeting last week with someone I’ll call Elizabeth. She works in ops for a small business (5–10 staff), but like a lot of people in her position, she’s also doing sales, marketing, and everything else that no one else has time for.

They can’t hire. The rise in NIC wiped out any budget they'd have for new staff – the extra cost is more than a whole salary.

So she’s stuck, doing way too much.

We got talking. And it turned out the issue wasn’t content. It was time.

She needs to free some of it up – fast – so she can focus on the stuff that actually grows the business.

How can marketing help with that?

Here’s the thing, her company is a bit different. They have to explain what they do to most people meaning a big part of the sales job is education.

That means
✴️ Answering the same questions again and again
✴️ Qualifying leads
✴️ Spending time with people who often aren’t ready to buy

What if her content could do that job instead?

Well, that’s the plan
✴️ Build a content library full of short, educational, service-focused media
✴️ Use it to handle common questions, reach more people, and warm up leads

I'm looking for someone to help carry and assembe studio equipment, managing stock and keeping me on track with timings and shot requirements.

Our time will be split between an indoor studio catalogue session and outdoor lifestyle photo and video.

Must be dog-friendly, personable, polite and professional.

In luxury hospitality, every detail matters. From the guest experience to brand storytelling, perception is everything and that perception starts with the visuals you put out into the world.

💡 How Marketing Budgets Typically Break Down

Most businesses allocate 7-12% of total revenue to marketing, with luxury brands often investing even more to maintain their premium positioning.

Within that, 30-50% is typically spent on content creation because high-impact visuals aren’t just a creative choice, they’re what drive guest bookings.

For context:
✔️ A venue with £5 million in revenue typically has a £500,000 marketing budget based on the 10% rule.
✔️ Of that, £150,000 - £250,000 should go into media production, covering photography, videography, and brand storytelling designed to convert.
✔️ Even in social media alone, 45% of the budget is usually spent on content production.

The Common Pitfalls That Hold Marketing Back
