Old locomotives and black & white photography fit like peas in a pod. I think it is the history they carry, the weight of times passed and time anew.

The D3516 was built in 1958, renumbered to 08401 in 1974. You can look at the locos brief history on the DEPG page and see where it has been. It now currently resides at the DEPG Williton.

Monday 1st Williton Scout Groups had the privilege of visiting the DEPG (the Diesel and Electric Preservation Group) based in Williton, on the West Somerset Railway. So as a parent helper that day, as did I.

If you haven't visited them, its actually really interesting and informative. Looking at the 'behind the scenes' in the workshop is peak curiosity for your inner child for sure.

I went with the Sigma 105mm as a cheaper option and to have some fun with. I do have a fantastic 35mm RF lens but I wanted something to bring me a bit closer in.

Also did you know you can build a pretty good diffuser yourself with a Pringles tub or with a sheet of thin white plastic. The pringles tub was fun to have a go with.

Baby Seagull having a moment staring at its reflection. It stayed there for quite a long time contemplating its existence. A common garden isn't quite the natural habitat of a Seagull but here we are.
