Had a brilliant walk in the woods this weekend, getting away from the screen and just exploring. You know how sometimes the best shots find you? That’s what happened here! 🌲

I spotted this incredible bit of pine bark. We’ve had some rough storms lately, and a break higher up left behind these striking trails of white, dried sap running right down the trunk.

The colours and textures were just singing—that deep, moody wood against the bright white resin. It made the whole trunk look like a piece of abstract art! It’s amazing what beautiful details you discover when you take a moment to really look closer.

Keep exploring, everyone! What unexpected details have you found on your recent walks? 👇

It’s so easy to overlook the forest floor, to see decay as just... an end. But during a walk this weekend, this one leaf stopped me in my tracks.

It wasn't just the blaze of autumn colour that held my attention, but the delicate, intricate texture the decay had created. It had become a fragile piece of natural lace, telling the story of its cycle.

It’s a powerful reminder: the creative process often starts by simply slowing down and looking closer. There is extraordinary beauty in the details we're so often programmed to walk right past.

Don't pack up your camera just yet! 🍂 As the days shorten and the air gets crisp, the temptation to stay indoors is real.

But the shift from warm summer to cool, crisp autumn isn't just a change in landscape—it's a transformative period for your creative vision. We're leaving behind summer's haze and moving into a season of deep textures and dramatic light. You'd be missing the best part of the photographic year!

What's the one thing you look forward to photographing most when the first frost hits? Let me know in the comments!

It’s easy to pack away the camera when the lush greens of summer fade. The days grow shorter, the air gets a bite to it, and the temptation to stay indoors is strong. But what if I told you that you'd be missing the best part of the photographic year? The shift from warm summer to cool, crisp autu...

Ever found magic hidden in plain sight? ✨ My new acrylic print, 'Golden Serenity,' tells the story of an unexpected discovery – a glowing yellow rose found tucked away in an early evening stroll. Read the full story behind this enchanting piece on my blog!

Every now and then, nature gifts us a moment of pure, unexpected magic. That's exactly how I felt when I stumbled upon the rose that inspired 'Golden Serenity.' It was early evening, and I was out exploring, enjoying the quiet calm as the day began to fade. Tucked away in a sheltered nook, almost hi

Ever feel like the creative well has run dry, especially after a demanding week? Today, after facing down a few tough projects, I found myself in the garden, feeling utterly uninspired by the usual flowers and trees.

But then, I spotted it: a simple, slightly sparkling, lichen-covered brick on my house wall. That moment reminded me that inspiration is often hiding in plain sight.

I share my full process in the new blog post: How adopting a systematic technical approach allows you to focus 100% on creativity. I explain my personal "F/11 and Be There" mantra (ISO 200, 1/250s, f/11, TTL Flash +1) and how starting in my comfort zone (0.5:1 magnification) finally gave me the confidence to push into the difficult, yet rewarding, 1.25:1 world.

Stop worrying about the result and just start shooting. That's where the magic is.

Do you ever have those days when the thought of picking up your camera feels like a chore? You know you should go out and shoot, but the inspiration just isn't there. You've been to the same woodlands, seen the same flowers, and the creative spark feels a million miles away. I get it. We've all been

We've all had that moment when an image just isn't coming together...

In my new blog post, I explore why sometimes, the best way forward is to start over. It's a powerful lesson I've learned from my work in both the tech and photography worlds.

Have you ever had to scrap a project to move forward? I'd love to hear about it!

As a creative, how many times have you found yourself stuck, desperately trying to polish an image that just isn't working? Perhaps you've spent hours tweaking the colours and dodging and burning, only to find the result is just a slightly different, equally unsatisfying version of the original.

With some exciting changes happening at work, my creative focus has become more important than ever. Over the past few months, I've been pouring my energy into building a new online home for my photography—a space that truly reflects my journey as a photographer and mentor.

Today, I’m so excited to finally launch my new website. It’s more than just a portfolio; it's a window into the way I see the world, from the tiniest textures of a flower petal to the vibrant wings of an insect. I've also opened my new print shop, where you can now find a curated collection of fine art prints to bring a piece of the natural world into your own home.

Thank you for being part of this journey. I can't wait for you to explore what's new.

Nature’s always busy—always shifting, growing, moving. Even something as small as a bee going about its day reminds me how much is happening all the time, just beneath the surface. What’s out there changes constantly; going out at a different time of day or in new weather can reveal a whole new scene. There’s always something new to notice if you slow down and really look.
