Just wanted to say a few words in memory of the lovely Jo Yates (Tennant)..
Thank you Jo for all your hard work, dedication and support for over ten years with the L&E group committee.
Though you wouldn't believe it was hard work as you were always smiling, laughing and had a great supply of cheeky comments.
Such a talented photographer, respected by all your peers. Modest in your achievements and awards, always there to help others, you were a real asset for the group.
It's hard to write these words, but I think the hundreds of heartfelt facebook comments after the announcement stands testament to the lives of all those you touched.
The London & Essex Group became a close group of friends over the years and we were proud of your ability to "Just get on with it" in the face of adversity.
your strength and practicality were evident in all you did inside the group and out.
You will be sorely missed by us all. X

EVENT REMINDER TONIGHT
FUTURE OF The London and Essex Group Meeting.
Join us for a drink at Ye Olde Plough House
Tuesdsay 31st January 2023 - 7pm for 7.30pm
The evening will be free and informal. With the prime objectives being finding a new treasurer and other committee posts. The direction the group wants to take with meetings speakers and training days will also be discussed.
Plus raise a glass to the sad passing of two of our valued members Martin & Gavin.
If you would like to attend please let me know via comments here or via a pm as we may or may not book a room depending on numbers attending. Arrive earlier if you would like to join us for food.
Looking back over our past meetings and events over the years has reminded of how strong the group was before lock down. It would be a shame for it not to continue.

Late Summer BBQ - Pani's 15th September 7pm

3 days to go please PM Pani or Paul Cudmore by Tuesday lunchtime with attendance numbers and any vegetarien needs. The cost will be £20 per head payable to Pani on the day. (any short notice cancelations will need to be paid for as Pani will be shopping the day before) Pani mentioned that the price of the food has doubled, but we know it will be amazing as always. Please bring your own drinks. There is a lot of interest so far and we look forward to seeing you all there.

A few of the group attended Martin's funeral 2 weeks ago. The ceremony took place at a lovely woodland cemetery Near Billericay "Herongate Wood"
The room was packed full of Martin's family and friends and many memorable eulogies were given along side some soothing classical music. Ending in smiles and tears with Monty Python's "Always look on the bright side of life"

The ashes were buried and more special words from Margit. Finishing with a very poignant poem, (with a small change at the end) I shall share it with you here.

The Final Photograph.
A photograph is more than just a gift to bring or send
and more than just the likeness of a relative or a friend.
It is a kindly greeting and a memory to hold
of happy times and pleasant things, however new or old.

It is a mirror that reflects, companionship and cheer
and now and then the wistfulness, that turns into a tear.
A photograph is something to adorn a desk or wall
or carry in a pocket and display to one and all.

It is a faithful portrait, the smile that friendship shares
to add its light and sunshine to show that someone really cares.
For now this final photograph of our much loved husband and dear friend, will be an everlasting memory for our love for you will never end.

Herongate Wood, Woodland Cemetery, Billericay Road,
Brentwood, Essex. CM13 3SE
Martin was a very cheerful person who would appreciate bright, happy colours to be worn.
If you would like to commemorate Martin’s life he would be delighted with a donation
