βΎ How to act around new-born fawns βΎ
Summertime is when Charlecote's does start to have their fawns. Typically born between June and July, here is our guide on what to do if you see a fawn on its own:
β Do NOT touch it β this will cause unnecessary stress to the fawn.
β Do NOT pick it up and move it from where it was lying, or its mum won't find it.
β
Walk away quietly.
β³οΈ If you are concerned that the fawn is injured, you can find a member of staff who will contact one of the rangers for help.
It is very common for a doe to leave her fawn alone. As wild animals, fawns will often lie motionless as a way to deter predators that pose a risk to them. For humans, this can look like the fawn has been abandoned and needs help, but that's not the case!
π The end of July is typically the best time to the see fawns at Charlecote as they will be old enough to move around but still very cute!
