I think I’m supposed to be doing a 2025 recap, but after showing up every day for 85 days following the how to post on Instagram handbook… I’m a bit done with rules.

I stopped posting a week ago, falling 15 days short of my 100-day goal.
Not because I couldn’t do it, but because I stopped wanting to.
The hyperfocus stopped hyperfocusing 🙊

I’ve had a really lovely Christmas.
I’ve argued with my children more times than I can count, which is what it’s all about right?
Watched them learn to ride their new bikes in under five minutes.
Listened to them fall out about who’s the fastest every minute since.

I’ve eaten approximately 156,000 chocolates, which is just shy of the number of views my top performing reel had this year (157,768), but who’s counting.
And I’ve thoroughly enjoyed not having to think about what might make good content.

I did plan on posting a recap tonight, a look back on the incredible clients and projects I have worked with and on because I’m unbelievably grateful and an excited look ahead at what’s to come, but ever since watching Emily in Paris and hearing sing One Day I’ll Fly Away, I’ve had the overwhelming urge to watch Moulin Rogue (I worship at the altar of Baz Luhrmann) so I’m doing that instead and this is the best I could come up with.

I will be posting in 2026.
Not because I feel like I have to, but because sometimes I actually enjoy it.
And because the majority of my enquiries come from social media, so it does matter to my business.

I’m looking forward to showing up in a way that feels good, doesn’t lead to burnout, and lets my phone function normally again instead of running out of storage every 15 minutes because of “b-roll”.

If you’re also done with rules right now, I see you 🫶 and if you’re looking for someone that can help you create the kind of content that stops the scroll but made mindfully by someone who won’t be a slave to it then DM me.

✨ Festive Photography Activity✨
Today’s tip is all about getting kids more involved in photography…and what happens after they’ve taken the photo.

This is one of my favourite craft activities from my sessions with , and it’s so easy to recreate at home. Customising photo frames helps children think not just about the portraits they’re taking, but how they want to showcase them too.

Practical bits:
– I used plain black 6×4 frames from Amazon
– Photos were printed at home using my Canon Selphy printer 🖨️
– Resin charms come in so many themes, so kids can really make it their own
– Glue dots work well for charms, but if you’re adding glitter, I’d recommend a glue gun

The magic isn’t just in the making, it’s in watching kids present their photographs in a way that reflects them.

If you try this at home, please tag me — I’d love to see what your kids create.

To celebrate the return of the Christmas trailer ride at Annabel’s, I’ve been looking back at some of my favourite photos from last Christmas 🎄

These moments were all captured on the trailer, at the cafe enjoying hot chocolate’s and marshmallows, and dancing on the stage, and they’re such a good reminder that the best photos happen when kids are just allowed to enjoy themselves.

If you want more natural photos this Christmas, don’t ask them to stop and smile.
Photograph them doing things they love, in places they’re happy, being completely themselves.

A few gentle tips to save ✨
• Get down to their level
• Stay close and interact so you don’t interrupt the moment
• Keep Live Photos on so you can choose the best frame later

It’s the same idea behind my keepsake session, photos of you and your favourite people, doing your favourite things.
That’s what makes them worth holding onto.

Tip 4 for better festive photos: Capture the details of YOUR Christmas 🎄

The paper chains you made together, the keepsake decorations collected over the years, the carefully chosen recipes, the record player spinning your favourite festive tunes, these are the little things that make your Christmas yours.

I’ve always tried to capture the details, but sometimes the smallest moments slip by. This year, I’m planning to do it with more intention.

Detail shots aren’t just for wedding galleries. Most of us plan Christmas with just as much love and care. These photos are how we preserve the traditions, the magic, and the stories we’re creating for the people we love. One day, our children will look back on them and feel the joy, the warmth, and the love we poured into each moment.

📸 Pro tips for capturing the magic:
• Use portrait mode for decorations, drinks, and table setups
• Turn on grid lines and place subjects off centre using the rule of thirds
• Shoot close and use natural light wherever possible
• Capture moments as they happen, not just styled shots

Don’t just photograph Christmas, capture how it felt.
Save this for December ✨

I headed to a Christmas market and challenged my friend to take a grid-worthy festive photo of me, using just my old iPhone

I’m usually the photographer, but with a few simple tips she snapped some super cute photos I genuinely love. ✨

Save this for next time you’re taking photos of your friends ⬇️

📍 Look for a good backdrop
Lights, stalls, texture - busy but cute beats blank walls every time.

📱 iPhone settings
• Portrait mode
• Studio light (evens out messy lighting and helps faces stand out)
• Grid lines ON for better composition

🧍‍♀️ How to pose your friend
• Turn slightly off centre for shape
• Extend one leg to elongate
• Keep them moving, don’t stay still for too long. This is what’s going to give the options!

📸 If you’re behind the camera
Take lots. The best photo is usually the hair toss, the glance down, the in-between moment.

Festive Photo Tip 2: Capture real Christmas moments 🎄
Shredded tinsel is an easy, low-cost way to create movement, laughter, and totally candid photos at Christmas.

Use simple prompts like dropping it over heads, throwing it between siblings, or making tinsel snow angels. Step back, shoot in bursts, and let the chaos happen.

I’ve finished these with my signature nostalgic, film-style edit to lean into the retro Christmas vibes this idea naturally creates.

Save this for December ✨

Christmas photo glow-up time ✨

In this first tutorial, I’m showing you how to create that dreamy, blown-out fairy-light look using simple iPhone edits, depth of field tricks, and a bit of festive foreground magic.

Ordinarily I’d have loved to demo this with one of my angelic children… or even Gatsby… but it’s late on a Friday and absolutely no one wanted to help. So you’re getting the door frame as my reluctant stand-in 😂

iPhone settings to copy:
• Filter: Dramatic
• Black Point: 8
• Warmth: 10
• Tint: 5
• Vignette: 29 (optional depending on your subject — you might not need it)

Important: Turn off all ambient lighting. No ceiling lights, no lamps blasting from the back. Just the tree lights + one soft, low lamp to gently light your subject in the foreground.

Save this for your in front of the Christmas tree snaps! 🎄✨
