A different Grebe species this time. This Great Crested Grebe was still feeding it's young in Regents park, London. The stunning autumn colours made for a perfect backdrop.

Day one of our week-long trip across the south of England. After spending the morning at Richmond Park and I made our way into the big smoke and rendezvoused with for a spot of lunch and photography. This Cormorant was fishing away under the bridge in Hyde Park.

It was brilliant to find our first Large Marsh Grasshoppers yesterday! This is the UK's largest grasshopper and among the rarest too. They have suffered huge declines over the last 40 years and for the last 20 years, it has been hanging on down in Dorset and the New Forest.

A couple of years ago a small population was rediscovered on the Somerset Levels which is great news for this special grasshopper. Hopefully, they'll continue to recolonise their previous haunts.

I've written more about these stunning insects and shared more pictures on my most recent blog post -

Trouble in Vole Town.
This Weasel was spotted running about the Watervole colony, after watching it for 10 minutes it vanished so either it was successful or decided to look elsewhere.
How something so cute can be so lethal is beyond me!

Mallard - The backlighting shows off the steam evaporating from her body.

Chiffchaff - It was great to watch a pair of Chiffchaff looking for food, even better when it's just outside your front door,

Long-tailed Tit - A pair was building a nest in a bramble thicket, a real treat to watch and something I'll keep an eye on as the spring progresses.

Dunnock - A massively underrated bird with a beautiful song, this one was belting out its tune just meters away.
