The internet can absolutely find you a cheap holiday.

But cheap and value are two very different things ✈️

Khao Lak, Thailand April 2026

We finally got there!! Firstly I want to say a huge thank you to Donna Meredith - Personal Travel Counsellor …. With all of the uncertainty of flights in & out of the Middle East, then cancelled flights, Donna worked her magic & moved dates , flights & transfers. We flew with Oman air with a layover in Oman, no problems at all.
Second big thank you goes to Corvus Travel Ltd, Paul was able to rearrange our airport drop off/pick up at short notice, we didn’t get to see Paul himself but had the very friendly Marcus as our driver!
We had 10 nights at The Haven Khao Lak, & for 6 of those nights we had a wonderful room upgrade to a beach view bungalow ( with direct pool access) we had B&B at the hotel, which was lovely. I would highly recommend this hotel , but maybe not suitable if you have any mobility restrictions as it’s not 100% wheelchair accessible. A number of evenings we took a 5 min walk up to a fabulous local bar/restaurant called Andamans seafood restaurant, if you go to Khao Lak, it’s a must!!
We were there for Songkran ( New Year) & so spent the day having water fights!! Yes, we were soaked, but such fun!
We went to Pam’s, a fabulous restaurant, and then the next day returned & Pam took us to the local market before returning to her cooking school where we learnt how to cook some amazing authentic Thai dishes.
We had a day trip out on a boat to “James Bond” island, stopped off at a floating village before returning to our ( very welcome) aircon car. We saw many hungry Monkeys & a massive monitor lizard!
Now, the main reason for the trip… our good friends from Sydney were going with their family, we haven’t seen them for 12 months, so we thought it would be a great surprise, it was!! 10 days of sunshine , love,laughter & cocktails in the pool, who could ask for more!

Madrid March 2026

What a brilliant city to explore! We flew from Bristol with EasyJet ( have to say a real bargain as I paid under £80 return for the 2 of us!) the only downside I would say is I only booked 3 nights!

We found another gem of an apartment on booking.com so central and directly opposite Mercado de San Miguel, a beautiful market where you could find every type of Tapas ( we spent quite a few hours in there tasting the local dishes & wines!)

We booked the 24hr hop on hop off bus and saw all of the sights!
Definitely a city where you need to be looking up all of the time, the buildings are amazing!
The Palace & Cathedral were worth a visit, we picked a day when the King of Spain was visiting so we had the added show of real pomp and ceremony!😁

We wandered through the streets, into beautiful hidden squares and just sat and just enjoyed the sunshine.

We took the tuktuk ride on our first evening, which gave us a good feel of where all of the sights were in relation to our accommodation!

We met our good friends there, a brilliant few days catching up, eating, drinking and really enjoying the Spanish way of life.

So, under 2 hours on the plane and you are in this beautiful city…… add it to your list!!!

Berlin February 2026

Definitely a place for a long weekend!!
We flew from Bristol, so very easy, booking.com came up trumps with the apartment, couldnt get a better view if we tried!! ( the apartment building had a Starbucks on the ground floor…. So obviously a new mug was purchased for the collection!)
We had 48hrs on the red hop on hop off bus so managed to see so many sights/places. We walked miles ( literally!) and found some real hidden gems as always.
Such a mix of old & new buildings, and the same with the history. We spent time in the DDR museum & experienced life in the “East”.
checkpoint Charlie and sections of the wall really do make you realise how fortunate we are to live in the “ free world”
Plenty of lovely traditional German food & beer to be found, but I have to say my new favourite of all time is currywurst & fries ( no mayo though!!)
