I'm busy in the studio developing sketchbook ideas into new work ahead of the busy Christmas craft market season and exciting news - I'm part of a group of talented Ayrshire artists exhibiting at Studio 44 in Largs from mid-November.

So many new techniques and ideas to explore - I'd better get busy!

Look out for updates with more information over the coming week.

Huge thank you to everyone who visited me at Lochgreen House Hotel over the past few days for Open Studios.
I enjoyed meeting so many lovely people and really appreciate the many kind comments and interest in my art.
The weekend was made even better in the company of my new creative buddies- Gianna Milani, Judith, Eileen and Anne.

Set up for Saturday Open Studios Ayrshire

So pleased to have sold 2 of my original Funky Floral mixed media pieces yesterday 🙂
My unique cyanotype notebooks were also very popular.

It was lovely to talk to visitors following the studio trail.

Open Studios Ayrshire starts tomorrow and I look forward to welcoming you to Lochgreen House Hotel to say hello and chat about my art process. Frid/Sat/Sun 10am-5pm.

Also pleased to announce I have a new online shop. Bear with me as it's a work in progress, so not quite everything is available at the moment.

Scotland provides endless inspiration for my art which predominantly features florals, dramatic landscapes and seascapes.

A beach is probably my favourite happy place - even more so if I have my camera with me.

These images were taken using a technique called ICM (Intentional Camera Movement) which gives the scene a soft, tranquil quality. Some also have my own textures overlayed which gives them a painterly quality.

The first image was taken near North Berwick at a workshop with the amazingly talented Shona Perkins https://mybeautifulscotland.com/

The others are from Luskentyre on Harris, where the light is just so magical.

I've created art prints and greeting cards with the theme 'Coastal Calm'.

* Fun fact - the last picture is a film star!
It's in the movie 'Glenrothan' starring Alan Cu***ng and Brian Cox. Anyone who comes to my Open Studios event and correctly guesses where it appears in the film will get a free greeting card from the Coastal Calm collection.

Not long till Open Studios begins this Friday and it's hectic at JJ Designs HQ.

I've popped my greeting cards into gift pack sets - Coastal Calm, Funky Florals and Cyanotype Blues. 4 lovely cards in each, ideal to keep handy for any occasion - or as a gift for someone special.

Each set is also available as smaller "Just to Say...' notelets.

You could even frame and display your favourite image!

Who doesn't like a notebook? Diary, to-do list, holiday log, journal, music scores, ideas for your novel - all captured in a unique A5 notebook with a hand-printed cover.

Each notebook features a hand-printed cover - either a botanical cyanotype or bright gelliprint pattern with an elastic button fastening. These are very limited as they take quite a while to make!
