This diptych explores the hidden weight of responsibility in a woman’s life.

The roots symbolise family, emotional ties, tradition, and the pressure of carrying both domestic and financial responsibilities. They hold the tree firmly in place — restricting movement, but also giving strength and stability.

The woman in the portrait represents someone balancing many roles at once: caregiver, worker, provider, and supporter. Through these images, I wanted to create a visual connection between pressure and resilience, showing how the same responsibilities that can feel heavy also shape inner strength and purpose.

For me, this work reflects the complexity of modern womanhood — quiet endurance, emotional depth, and the strength that often goes unseen.

This project will be part of the NC Photography Exhibition at Forth Valley College, Stirling Campus, and I would love to invite you to come, experience the exhibition, and see the stories and emotions we explored through photography .
