Amadores Through The Lensball (2026_0528)
Puerto Rico Harbour (2026_0529)

A little creative shot while on our holibobs in Gran Canaria: the lensball was a gift from my daughter and I haven't used it as much as I'd like. It gives an interesting perspective. I've seen some images where the photographer has either rotated the image 180 degrees or they have digitally manipulated the centre image to turn it up the "correct" way to match the background.

Go on holiday and take pictures at a wedding....walking around Las Palmas we discovered this lovely setting at a small church and a wedding ceremony taking place. How ornate is the interior of the church!!

Tenerife Through The Haze (2026_0528)

A cracker of a sunset from Amadores looking over to Tenerife - Teide started to appear in silhouette as the sun passed lower and behind the island. We hadn't really seen Tenerife from the beach up to this moment as the haze obscured the view. Sat here for a while as the light dimmed then took a taxi back to Puerto Rico.

Loch Katrine (2026_0514)
The Achray Water (2026_0514)
Loch Katrine Sluice (2026_0514)

An early 20th century sluice dam which is an important element of the Glasgow Corporation Water Works system from Loch Katrine (see below for significance of the scheme as a whole). The dam was erected as part of the initial 1855 scheme, but was largely rebuilt when the level of Loch Katrine was raised in 1902. It was further extended in 1919 when the water level was raised again. The dam therefore has particular interest in evidencing the gradual expansion of the water-supply scheme.

The purpose of the dam is to control the flow of water from Loch Katrine to Loch Achray (hence the name, Achray Dam). Loch Katrine originally emptied through the Achray Water to Loch Achray and on to Loch Venachar. The controlled flow through the dam prevents the Achray Water from drying up, allows salmon to access Loch Katrine, and also creates a useful overflow function for the loch.

I am currently abroad (hopefully) soaking up some rays!! June has now arrived and with it there should be some sun and possibly a heatwave?

Images By Raymond Dormer 2026 calendar will now show the Calanais Stones on a sunny day. Having family here is an added incentive to travel to take in the rural beauty and history of Lewis and Harris. If you can, add it to your bucket list.

The 2026 Dunblane calendar will today show the community orchard that has been nurtured in Laighills Park - where the old football pavilion was. You are free to take the fruit from the trees for your own use. The orchard contains more than 250 fruit trees with many varieties of tasty apples, pears, plums, cherries and damsons and is one of the largest community orchards in the area. The varieties include everything from Stirling Castle and Lass O’ Gowrie apples to Crawford pears
