Look what appeared tonight… 🦎

I spotted this tiny gecko clinging to the wall after dark here in Tunisia.
Those little feet are incredible — perfectly designed for climbing walls while it hunts insects at night.

It’s amazing how much wildlife appears when you slow down and start looking properly.

Have you ever spotted one of these on holiday?

🐸 We stopped in our tracks…

After dinner this evening, Susan and I went for a walk along the beach expecting a peaceful end to the day.

Then, out of nowhere, two tiny toads appeared and started hopping across the sand right in front of us.

At first, I couldn’t believe what I was seeing. Toads on a beach? It seemed such an unusual place to find them.

I managed to photograph one before both disappeared into the darkness.

After a bit of research, they appear to be young North African Green Toads, but what I still can’t work out is why they were on the beach in the first place.

Perhaps they were hunting insects, travelling from nearby gardens, or simply taking advantage of the cooler evening temperatures.

Whatever the reason, it was another reminder that wildlife can turn up in the most unexpected places if you slow down and pay attention.

Have you ever come across wildlife somewhere you least expected to find it? 👀

🌴 I stepped outside expecting sunshine… and found another pair of birds enjoying the hotel grounds.

These beautiful Laughing Doves have been spending time together around the gardens here in Tunisia. While most people are heading for the beach, I’ve been keeping an eye on the wildlife hiding in plain sight.

Every day seems to bring a new discovery—from Spotted Flycatchers feeding their young to these lovely doves quietly going about their day.

Nature really is everywhere if you take the time to look.

Question:

Have you ever spotted unexpected wildlife while on holiday? 🦅🌴

He appeared out of nowhere… 👀

Last night in Tunisia I stepped out onto the balcony expecting a quiet evening, when this beautiful Spotted Flycatcher landed right beside me on the railing.

For a few moments we simply shared the view together. No fear, no rush—just one of those wildlife encounters that makes you stop and appreciate nature.

The Spotted Flycatcher is a summer visitor that feeds almost entirely on flying insects, often launching from a perch to catch its prey before returning to the same spot.

It’s amazing what you can find when you slow down and look around, even from your hotel balcony.

Have you ever had wildlife come this close to you on holiday?

🌿✨ A Dream Taking Shape ✨🌿

A few months ago, this was just a garden.

Today, it feels like a living, breathing wildlife sanctuary.

Tonight, as I looked out across the wildflowers, listened to the evening birdsong, and watched two goldfinches drinking from the pond for the very first time, I genuinely had to stop and take it all in.

Every flower, every tree, every stone and every pond plant was placed here with the hope that nature might one day find a home.

Now it’s happening.

The wildflowers are beginning to burst into colour, bees are everywhere, birds are discovering the pond, hedgehogs are visiting under the cover of darkness, and every day seems to bring a new surprise.

What amazes me most is how quickly nature responds when you simply give it a chance.

This little patch of garden has become something far bigger than I ever imagined. It’s become a place of wonder, a place where I can slow down, watch, learn and reconnect with the natural world.

I’ll be honest… I’m finding it hard to get anything else done lately because every time I look outside, something new is happening. 😄

And the exciting part?

This is only the beginning.

The plants are still growing, new wildlife is still arriving, and I can’t wait to share every step of the journey with you all.

Sometimes the most incredible wildlife experiences aren’t found in faraway places…

Sometimes they’re waiting right outside your window. 🌿🦔🐦💚

What wildlife would you love to attract into your own garden? 👇✨
