Every event has those little moments that you wish you could hold onto, the first conversations, the laughter, the busy exhibition stands, the speakers on stage and the connections happening throughout the day. 📸

Sometimes supporting a small business isn’t about what you buy.

It’s about what happens when they open their doors.

I recently headed to Dice & Destiny in Canterbury to photograph a Magic: The Gathering pre-release The Hobbit event, and honestly, this is exactly the sort of event I love capturing.

The rules were simple.

Turn up. Get your sealed MTG packs. Wait patiently while absolutely itching to open them.

Then the clock starts.

50 minutes to crack the packs, read your cards, build your decks and figure out some kind of strategy before sitting opposite another player and putting it to the test.

The prize? A few extra packs.

The atmosphere? Worth far more.

A room full of people from completely different walks of life, brought together by one thing.

Being massive nerds.

You sit down with someone you might never have met before, say hello, play some cards, have a laugh, shake hands and move on to the next opponent.

At one point, I even watched someone pull a stunning surge foil card from The Hobbit packs, already sitting at £90+ in value and climbing.

Naturally, everyone suddenly became their best mate.

But that’s why photographing local events like this matters to me.

Dice & Destiny isn’t just a shop in Canterbury selling trading cards and tabletop games. It’s a local independent business creating a space where people can actually meet, play, compete and be part of a community.

And THAT is what I want my event photography to show.

The reactions.

The concentration.

The cards hitting the table.

The conversations happening in the background.

The excitement when someone pulls something ridiculous.

The people behind the business.

Because good commercial photography and brand content shouldn’t just show people what you sell.

It should show them why they’d want to walk through your door.

This is why I’ll always champion small businesses, independent shops and local communities across Canterbury, Kent and beyond.

Give people a reason to come together, and there’s always a story worth capturing.

Some days I'm filming commercial video content for businesses.

Other days I'm standing alongside former Great British Bake Off contestant Lesley Holloway, capturing the magic of an intimate baking masterclass.

That's the beauty of running Tatty Planet Productions.

Being a one-man production company means wearing every hat. I'm directing, filming, capturing professional photography, chasing the perfect light, recording the details people don't notice, and creating cinematic content that tells stories people genuinely connect with.

Filming a Victoria Sponge cake tutorial while producing high-quality brand photography at the same time? It's a challenge I genuinely enjoy.

But this day wasn't really about the cake.

It was about the people.

A room full of passionate home bakers. Genuine laughter. Quiet moments of concentration. New skills being learnt. Those little celebrations when everything came together.

A huge well done to every single lady who took part. It takes confidence to step outside your comfort zone, learn something new, and fully immerse yourself in the experience. You all created such a welcoming, supportive atmosphere, and it was a privilege to capture those moments through my lens.

My goal is never just to create a video.

It's to create content that makes people feel like they were there.

Whether that's cinematic videography, commercial photography, social media content, or authentic brand storytelling, every frame has a purpose. To tell a story. To build a brand. To create something worth remembering.

One minute you're wondering where your next opportunity will come from.

The next, you're working alongside incredible people like Lesley, helping capture knowledge, passion and personality for people to enjoy long after the day is over.

Whether I'm creating content for businesses, filming events, producing brand films, or documenting a baking masterclass, every project gets the same level of care, creativity and attention to detail.

You never really know where a camera will take you.

And that's exactly why I love what I do.

It all counts. Every conversation, every connection, every act of kindness matters.

As creatives, we have the privilege of cutting through the noise and showing people what happens behind the scenes. We capture the stories, the emotions, the moments that often go unseen. Because charity is about so much more than raising money.

The hive club joined forces for a breakfast and to really understand the meaning behind what happens and what the donations contribute to.

It's about bringing people together. It's about community, compassion, and supporting those who need it most. It's about understanding the real impact these organisations have on individuals and families every single day.

At Heart of Kent Hospice, the emotions are real, the care is real, and the difference being made is life-changing. The hospice provides specialist care and support not only for patients but also for their families and loved ones.

Let's continue to support, connect, and give back. Together, we can create awareness, inspire action, and make a difference for everyone.

Some cars just stop you in your tracks.

I was walking around Brands Hatch when this Ariel caught my eye and that was it. Game over.

The exposed chassis. The suspension setup. The race-inspired engineering. The aggressive stance. The colour combination. The raw mechanical feel of it all.

Then it fired up.

The exhaust note bouncing around the circuit. The downshifts. The acceleration. Watching it attack corners, ride kerbs and disappear down the straight. This is what car culture is all about.

No giant screens.
No gimmicks.
Just pure driving.

As a photographer, these are the moments you live for.

You don't plan them.

You find them.

One minute you're walking through the paddock and the next you're filling memory cards with a car you can't stop shooting.

This one is definitely making its way into the portfolio.

While shooting at Brands Hatch, I came across this absolute beast of a machine. The striking colour combination, bold presence, and perfectly executed branding instantly caught my attention. Every detail worked together to create a car that simply couldn't be ignored.

That's the power of great branding.. when a vehicle stands out, so does the company behind it.

What started as a chance encounter has now earned a place in my automotive photography portfolio, and it's easy to see why.

Aggressive styling, incredible attention to detail, and a visual identity that demands attention both on and off the track.

If you're passionate about performance cars, motorsport culture, automotive design, and standout branding, this is definitely a brand worth checking out.
