🏆 Another Webflow milestone achieved!

I’m pleased to share that I’ve officially passed the Webflow Practitioner Certification! 🎉

As Webflow is at the heart of the websites I design and build through D-S-Design Studio, continuing to develop and validate my knowledge of the platform is really important to me.

The certification covers key areas of working professionally with Webflow, and passing it is another way of demonstrating the knowledge and experience behind the websites I create for my clients.

I’m always learning, refining how I work, and keeping up with the tools and techniques available within Webflow — because the platform continues to evolve, and so should the way I use it.

Already being a Webflow Certified Partner makes adding another official Webflow certification particularly rewarding. 💻✨

Another certificate for the collection, and another milestone for D-S-Design Studio. ✅

📖 The first page of every project

Before we discuss designs, websites, branding, or quotes, many clients receive a copy of the D-S-Design Studio Welcome Guide.

The guide was created to give clients a clear understanding of who I am, how I work, and what they can expect when starting a project.

The opening pages introduce:

👋 D-S-Design Studio
💻 The services I offer
🎨 My design approach
📅 How projects are managed
📩 Communication and support
✨ What happens next

I believe good design starts with clear communication and transparency.

That’s why the Welcome Guide has become such an important part of the client journey. It helps answer questions, set expectations, and ensures everyone starts the project on the same page.

Whether you’re looking for a new website, branding, print design, or ongoing support, the guide is designed to make the process feel straightforward and stress-free from day one.

Because great projects don’t start with a contract.

They start with a conversation and a clear understanding of what’s possible.

📉 What is bounce rate?

Bounce rate is a website metric that measures how many visitors leave a website after viewing just one page without taking any further action.

A high bounce rate can sometimes indicate that visitors aren’t finding what they expected, or that the website isn’t encouraging them to continue exploring.

There are lots of factors that can affect bounce rate, including:

⚡ Slow loading speeds
📱 Poor mobile experience
🧭 Confusing navigation
📄 Unclear messaging
🎯 Visitors landing on the wrong content

That said, bounce rate should always be looked at in context. Some pages naturally have higher bounce rates depending on the type of content and what the visitor needed.

Good website design focuses on helping visitors feel engaged, informed, and guided naturally through the site.

☕ What happens during an initial meeting?

One of my favourite parts of any project is the very first meeting.

Before any designs are created, websites are built, or quotes are prepared, I like to take the time to understand the person and business behind the project.

During our initial meeting, we’ll typically discuss:

💻 What you’re looking to achieve
🎯 Your business goals
🎨 Any branding or design requirements
📱 Existing websites or marketing materials
📈 Future plans for the business
💡 Ideas you may already have

I also provide a copy of the D-S-Design Studio Welcome Guide, which explains how projects work, what to expect, and answers many of the common questions clients have before getting started.

One thing I always make clear is that there isn’t a “one size fits all” solution.

Every business is different.

A local community group has very different requirements to an e-commerce business, artist, therapist, or hospitality venue. That’s why every quote and proposal is tailored to the individual project rather than forcing clients into fixed packages that may not suit their needs.

Most importantly, the initial meeting is completely free and comes with no obligation.

It’s simply an opportunity to have a conversation, explore ideas, and see whether we’re a good fit to work together.

Because every successful project starts with understanding the business first. ☕✨

✨ The power of imagery and mockups

A great design is important.

But how that design is presented can be just as important.

Whether it’s a logo, website, leaflet, poster, or business card, showing it in context helps people visualise how it will look in the real world.

That’s where mockups come in.

A logo on a plain white background is one thing.

The same logo on a shop sign, leather notebook, embroidered uniform, business card, or website instantly feels more real and relatable.

Good imagery and mockups help:

👀 Bring designs to life
🎨 Showcase branding in context
💡 Help clients visualise the final result
✨ Add professionalism to presentations
📈 Create stronger marketing materials

It’s often the difference between showing a design and helping someone imagine their future brand.

Because people don’t just buy a logo or website.

They buy the vision of what it could become.

🎬 Client Work: Dan Pitman Media, two years on.

A website should continue to evolve alongside the business it represents.

It has now been over 2 years since I first worked with Dan Pitman Media, and I have continued supporting Dan by keeping his website current, polished, and aligned with the growth of his work.

From refreshing content and improving page layouts to adding new projects, imagery, and functionality, every update helps ensure the website continues to represent the quality and creativity behind Dan Pitman Media.

Building a website is only the beginning. Regular updates help it remain relevant, engaging, and useful for both the business and its visitors.

It is always rewarding to build long-term relationships with clients and continue developing their online presence beyond the initial launch.

📄 The D-S-Design Studio Leaflet – Q3 2026 Edition

In a world where so much marketing happens online, printed materials still have an important role to play.

That’s why I’ve recently updated the D-S-Design Studio Leaflet for Q3 2026, ensuring it reflects the latest services, projects, awards, and studio information.

The leaflet is designed to give potential clients a quick introduction to who I am, what I do, and how I can help.

Inside you’ll find information about:

💻 Website Design
🎨 Branding & Logo Design
📱 Social Media Support
📄 Print Design
🔍 SEO & Website Optimisation
⚙️ Website Care Plans

The aim isn’t to overwhelm people with information.

It’s to provide a clear, professional overview of D-S-Design Studio and make it easy to take that next step.

Whether it’s picked up at a local event, handed over during a meeting, displayed in a local business, or passed on through a recommendation, the leaflet acts as a simple introduction to the studio and the services I offer.

Of course, you can also learn more online by visiting:

Sometimes the most effective marketing isn’t about being the loudest.

It’s about being clear, professional, memorable, and easy to find when the time is right.

🎨 More than just picking colours

When I create branding for a client, I don’t just choose a few colours that look nice together.

Every colour is carefully selected and recorded as part of a brand’s identity through a set of colour swatches and colour codes.

These might include:

🎨 HEX codes for websites and digital use
🖥️ RGB values for screens and presentations
🖨️ CMYK values for print materials
📄 Pantone references where required

Having defined colour codes ensures your branding remains consistent across everything you produce.

Without them, one version of your logo might be navy blue, another might be royal blue, and another might be almost black.

Consistency builds recognition.

Whether your branding appears on:

💻 A website
📱 Social media
📄 A leaflet
🪧 A sign
💳 A business card

The colours should remain the same every time.

It might seem like a small detail, but colour consistency is one of the foundations of a professional brand.

🧠 The cleverness of negative space logos

Some logos communicate more than one idea at once, and that’s often achieved through something called negative space.

Negative space is the empty area around or within a design that can be used creatively to reveal hidden shapes, symbols, or meanings. When done well, it can make a logo feel clever, memorable, and visually satisfying.

Negative space logos often help create:

🎯 Simplicity and clarity
🧩 Hidden visual details
✨ More memorable branding
⚖️ Strong balance and composition

Some of the most recognisable logos use negative space in subtle ways people may not notice immediately, but once seen, they’re hard to forget.

It’s a great example of how thoughtful design can communicate more while actually using less.
