Another shot from this beautiful garlic-filled woodland, where the soft afternoon light filtered through the trees. So peaceful! 😌

Vampires beware πŸ§›πŸ»β€β™‚οΈπŸ§„

We explored this incredibly photogenic ancient woodland during the late-afternoon light (it’s really nice to take photos at a reasonable hour sometimes πŸ˜‚).

There were some gnarly trees to be found, patches of beautiful bluebells still holding on, and wild garlic all around us - the smell was amazing!

These tracks provided an obvious but pleasing leading line for a composition, with your eyes drawn through the sea of white and into the woods. As the canopy swayed above us, dappled light fell onto the trunks and the forest floor. Not a bad a way to spend a couple of hours! 🌳😌

Purple Haze πŸͺ»πŸŒ³β˜€οΈ

I headed back to the woods yesterday to catch the last of the evening light. Having bagged some wider views of the bluebells recently, I chose to whip out the 85mm prime, open it right up to f/1.8, and try shooting from a lower perspective.

By focusing on the midground, the wide aperture threw the foreground bluebells out of focus and created some lovely bokeh as the warm light caught them.

Reaching for the light πŸŒ³β˜€οΈ

Thanks for all the love on my previous bluebell post!

I thought I’d mix it up now, with a slightly moodier bluebell woodland scene. I came across this fallen tree amongst the shadows when I first arrived at my location. This part of the woods has quite a thick canopy so not much light broke through, but I patiently waited for the light to catch the trunk. It reminded me of an outstretched arm reaching for the light!

After a week of glorious weather, it feels like spring has sprung! β˜€οΈ

The bluebells have made an early appearance this year, in full bloom at least a fortnight earlier than usual. I ventured out to a local woodland this morning to spend a couple of hours walking amongst the trees, listening to the birds, and taking my first bluebell photos of the season. πŸͺ»πŸ˜Œ

First light hitting Old Harry Rocks πŸŒ… Another one from Friday morning and the Spring Equinox sunrise. The long shadows cast by the rocks really caught my eye so I tried to incorporate these into the shot.

Spot the paddleboarder! πŸ„β€β™‚οΈ

Anyone else think the rocks on the right look like a T-Rex lying down?! πŸ¦–

Sunrise on the Spring Equinox πŸŒ…

Friday was a day off, and I was able to get out with my camera and drone for the first time in nearly 3 months. The forecast was for clear skies, which aren’t always the best for landscape photography, but I was just so excited to get back out there, watch the sunrise and clear my busy mind for a couple of hours! πŸ˜ŒπŸ™ŒπŸ»

I’ve been to Old Harry Rocks a few times in recent years but haven’t shot there since 2014, so I thought this would be a fun spot to head back to.

πŸΊπŸŒ•

I absolutely love watching and shooting a moonrise, and with pristine conditions this afternoon, I couldn't resist heading out for my first shoot of 2026.

I know, it's the cathedral again and I've posted a few shots of this lately!

Can you spot the people doing the spire tour? πŸ‘€

It was such a beautiful, crisp and cold afternoon, perfect for watching the first 'Supermoon' of the year come up above rhe horizon. The pink and orange hues you see in the sky are due to a phenomenon called the 'Belt of Venus', the purple above the horizon is actually Earth's shadow being cast by the just-set Sun. Cool right?! πŸ€“

Who else saw the Moon earlier? It's been looking pretty special recent evenings too!

2025 πŸ“·

As is tradition, here are some of my favourite photos I've taken this year! These haven't necessarily 'done well' on social media but are the photos that mean the most to me this year because of either the planning involved, the company I had, or just the experience.

The start of the year provided a run of crystal clear nights, so I was able to capture a beautiful conjunction of the Moon and Venus, followed by a freezing night photographing the stars above the bare winter trees βœ¨β„οΈ The rest of 2025 saw me shooting more starry skies and moonrises, chasing ethereal misty mornings, soaking up the sounds and smells of woodland full of spring flowers and garlic, exploring new locations, and a drone purchase has allowed me to photograph new perspectives towards the end of the year.

I'd like to say a massive thank you to each of you who has liked, commented on and shared any of my photos this year - it means a lot and I look forward to sharing what I shoot in 2026! πŸŽ‰πŸ™ŒπŸ»
