Pitch black on a perfectly still night, with only the harbour lights glowing to our right. More and more stars appeared before our eyes as it got closer to midnight.

It was spectacular to witness. As if someone was switching on the lights one by one.

I can't wait for another midnight Milky Way hunt!

Have you seen the Milky Way over Cornwall?
This year I set myself the challenge of photographing it.
It's one of the most rewarding types of photography there is.
I'm still very much in the trial and error stage.
But I'm getting results. I need more nights with perfect conditions to practise!

It's been a while since I've posted anything new here. So I thought I'd share this with you. It's my first ever attempt at capturing the Milky Way.

Conditions were almost perfect last night: new moon, no cloud, little wind, low tide. Saturn and Jupiter were clearly visible. I couldn't miss the opportunity to have a go.

It was slightly misty out to sea, but I'm just so excited that I managed to capture anything on my first attempt!

I'll definitely be heading out to try again.
