🦆 Ring-necked Duck

A lovely Ring-necked Duck enjoying a rest by the water. This North American species is a scarce visitor to the UK, so it’s always a bit special to get the chance to see one — and even better to get a nice close-up photograph.

Really pleased with the detail in this one, especially that striking eye. 📸

A lovely Ring-necked Duck photographed at Abberton Reservoir, Essex. 📸🦆

A rare visitor to the UK, Ring-necked Ducks originate from North America, so it was great to get the opportunity to photograph this one at Abberton. Always something special about seeing a bird that has travelled well outside its usual range, and even better when it sits nicely for the camera!
