Good news! We finally got my little map of Raasay nicknames and notes available as a print! The actual artwork is tiny (only about 20cm tall!) but it looks lovely in A4. 🎨

Drawing I did last year of the Russian submarine salvage ship 'Kommuna'. The Kommuna is Russia (and the worlds) oldest active navy ship. She was launched in 1915 and is still in service to this day. I did a big documentary all about her on my YouTube channel. https://youtu.be/0X2Dz6PA1rQ

Done with 0.03 Unipins, then coloured digitally on my ipad. First time I used the iPad for colouring!

Introducing... 🥁 Raasay Candles!

I'm hoping to get a lot more of my art into our wee shop/gallery theexchangeraasay this year, and we thought a cute series of candles inspired by elements of Raasay and covered in my usual doodles would make a fun addition!

They'll be available in our shop but you can read more and order them on our website too (link in the comments)🥳

Finally caught up with the The Adventure Zone setup episodes for their new 'Ethersea' campaign! They are starting the season with some worldbuilding games so I decided to draw the map so far. Lots of crunchy details to enjoy!

Meet the Kharkovchanka! This may look like a dieselpunk fantasy mad max vehicle, but this this entirely real and entirely cool. The Kharkovchanka (Харьковчанки) is a model of Antarctic exploration vehicle built in 1958 for the Soviet Union's 4th Antarctic Expedition. Almost 9 metres long, 5 metres high and sporting over 30sq metres of internal space, it contained everything polar explorers may need in the field. Not only did they reach the South Pole and traverse thousands of miles of Antarctic ice, they operated almost continuously for over 50 year, only finally being retired in the 2010s.

I’ve actually made a pretty extensive video about the kharkovchankas on my YouTube channel. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f6R-h06IsJw&t=249s

This is my first time doing a full digital colouring in a long time and I had a blast. Will need to do more in the future (I need some practice)

Another doodle- It's The C̶r̶e̶p̶e̶s̶ ̶b̶y̶ ̶M̶o̶n̶i̶c̶a̶- Er, I mean Cryptonomica Van!
Suited and booted with everything the Pine Guard might need on a hunt, this van is stuffed with weapons, drones, surveillance equipment, tools and more. She may be well used and rough around the edges, but what it loses in style it makes up for in robustness and reliability.

A fun blast from the past! When living in Orkney in 2017 the lovely invited me to join them in an exhibition called “Stromness Uncoiled'" at the beautiful Northlight Gallery in Stromness. Stromness is one of my all-time favourite places tight streets, steeples and odd buildings are crammed along a sleep hill and waterfront. Everywhere you look is interesting buildings, lampposts, signs and streets and the place is just awash with interesting history (especially nautical stuff). I decided to try and present the long, winding town in a different direction- vertically- while still trying to retain off that idea of tight cobbled streets and hidden secrets everywhere. All the buildings featured are 100% real and can be found to find in real life, but I included lots of things that are no longer there- old distilleries, wee sheds from archives photos, boats and planes from the history of the town as well as historical businesses and easter eggs that I thought the only locals might get a kick out of.

The original piece came with a booklet that highlighted sections of the town along with captions- you can see the little ‘exploded’ versions from the booklet as you scroll through the album. One of my favourite projects and my first time ever exhibiting anything! Scary, but fun.
