Last weekend lots of the kids enjoyed attending Traquair House’s Medieval Fair. So we took the famous bear gates as inspiration and created some bears using clay, wood slices and paper plates. (As ever, other ideas featured too!)

✂️ A simple paper and scissors craft this week. The children added colours and patterns to a spiral, cut it out and taped on a loop of string. These come to life when trailed behind whilst running: spinning and swirling. 🌀

Print transfers: we used contact paper and magazine cut-outs to make print transfers. We had a few mishaps with sticking images on the wrong way..then lots of interest in the soaking and peeling part of the process.

And following the sheep: border collies 🐾
These are squishies, made by putting stuffing and beads inside balloons then glueing to the back of the dogs’ heads (sorry!). Lots of excitement with the 🎈balloons. Amazingly, only one popped!

Sheep 🐑: I won’t pretend that we did all this in one session (1 hour, 10 kids)! There was quite a bit of prep: cutting & glueing felt (curtain backing) onto polystyrene balls, adding eyes and kebab skewer legs. This left the children with a base to add stuffing to the head and glue or wrap stuffing or wool to the outside. We also added some of the eyes together. Some of the sheep were named and taken on walkies round the hall!

We shredded and glued paper and also used feathers to ‘colour in’. Birds, a boat, mushrooms, a flower, fish and sheep! 🐑...
