Battle of Britain Memorial Flight DC-3 Dakota ZA947 Departs Blackpool Airport for the Blackpool Airshow 2026! Whilst a few local golfers were none the wiser.

Baking In The Sun!

A cracking day spent on the beach with family watching the Strikemaster Display UK displaying their BAC 167 Strikemasters Mk.82A G-SOAF and Mk.80A G-RSAF at RAF Valley Families Day 2026. These are two of my all-time favourite aircraft.

Hawker Hurricane Mk.IIB BE505 G-HHII is the worlds ONLY two seater of the aircraft type, she was once owned and operated by legendary warbird pilot (Peter Teichman) but is now flown and operated by Hurricane Heritage out of White Waltham Airfield and Duxford Airfield, seen here recently at the latter.

On Tuesday I had the absolute pleasure of getting airborne in de Havilland Chipmunk 🐿️ T.10 WD292 'G-BCRX', flying in formation next to Ex Portuguese Air Force DHC-1 Chipmunk T.20 '1350' now 'G-CGAO' from Fenland Airfield, Lincolnshire.

What an experience this was.

Close formation, great visibility, great piloting skills, low level tail chase over the Norfolk coast line was just astonishing and 100% the highlight for me. The speed of the chipmunk from static to lift off was just unbelievable, and for the fact the aircraft I was in was ex RAF and in the Silver and Yellow scheme was also a lovely feeling for me, as I've flown in the de Havilland Vampire T.11 which is also in the same colours.

If anyone is considering having a chipmunk flight, I cannot recommend these guys any higher. My experience was 10/10, welcomed us as soon as we met the pilots Jon and Braiden, they let us roam around the aircraft to take photos, and given us a history lesson of the local area when we were airborne.
Just simply... Fantastic, and I WILL 100% do it again.

Fulmar Aviation Mig/Lim-17 that is in Polish Air Force livery.

I stated in a previous post some weeks ago that this aircraft had been based in the UK for many years; within the last 10 years, she has been a relic at North Weald Airfield, in the south of the UK.

Where Fulmar found her, saw her, rescued her, and resurrected her back to the skies! Here, she shows the pilot performing a "Spirited" departure and arrival at Blackpool Airport for her display at Blackpool Airshow 2026.

A beautiful machine! A classic!

BAE/Hawker Siddeley Hawk T.1 XX342, now in civilian hands as
G-HAWC, with L39 Aviation Ltd.

342 is a 1981 build which served with the ETPS (Empire Test Pilots School) at Boscombe Down. She returned to the skies in 2020, after her retirement from service in 2017.
This one has been on my radar to catch since she returned to the skies, simply because I have never seen or even photographed a 'Raspberry Ripple' Hawk T.1.
The aircraft's return fly-through, called a "Run and Break", she hit a very beautiful note, very similar to the Hawker Hunters' "Blue Note", a wonderful sound that I have never heard from a Hawk before.

What a fabulous job Horizon Aircraft Services and L39 Aviation have done to get this old bird in the skies again.
