Southsea Castle has been watching this shoreline for nearly 500 years.

Built by Henry VIII in 1544 to guard the Solent, this was once the frontline of England’s coastal defence. From these ramparts you could track enemy ships long before they reached Portsmouth Harbour. Today, the cannons are silent, but the view is still doing the heavy lifting.

From above, you can see how the fort, the green of Southsea Common, and the city behind it all lock together. Military history softened by open space, sea air, and Sunday dog walks.

A reminder that some places aren’t just landmarks. They’re layers.

Aerial imagery like this helps heritage and tourism sites show their setting, not just the site itself.

One year of flying, learning, and chasing light with the DJI Air 3S… and this shot of Spitbank Fort is still my favourite 📸✨

Something about the shapes, textures, and seeing it from a perspective you’d never get otherwise just sums up why I fell in love with drone photography in the first place.

Here’s to a year in the air, and many more flights to come 🚁🌊
