Many years ago, when I worked in a camera shop and starting my interest in photography, I used to take some photos in black and white. They never really inspired me, mainly because commercial photo labs would always expose the negative film with an average exposure value.

Not knowing enough about photography then to produce the images I had in my mind when pressing the shutter release, I have been reminded often by Cindy Psw about an image I took of some tyres once. Everyone who knows Cindy will know her infectious chortle that turns into a cackle when she is amused.

Imagine my delight when I go to one of the most influential photography galleries in the world to see an exhibition of Daido Moriyama's work and see this . . .
