'Enchanting' © Amanda Wade Photography 2026

The Dark Hedges, blanketed in snow and touched by the crisp winter air, looks magical as the early morning light filters through the trees. Famous for their appearance in Game of Thrones, this enchanting avenue is also said to be haunted by a mysterious Grey Lady.

The first time I have ever seen the dark hedges without people or car's parked along the tree line.

'Morning Silence' © Amanda Wade Photography 2026

Morning light at Ballintoy Harbour, with just the faintest dusting of snow. This image was captured a few mornings ago, the place was completely deserted.

There’s something magical about the quiet that snow brings, making everything feel calmer and more beautiful.

'Snow and Sea' © Amanda Wade Photography 2026

Firstly let me say, Happy New Year to all my followers.

The bright sky fades as another spell of snow sweeps over Lurig Mountain, also called Lurigethan, in Cushendall. It’s a scene I don’t remember witnessing before, with snow crowning the peaks and the sea raging below.

Legend has it this is where Finn MacCool and Ossian were born, and the fort at the summit was once the stronghold of Goll Mac Morna, Finn MacCool’s arch enemy.

'Castle Lights' © Amanda Wade Photography 2025

Carrickfergus Castle glows in the early evening light, the soft colours of a just passed sunset lingering in the sky.

A gentle breeze stirs ripples across the water’s surface. Close your eyes for a moment and take it all in; the cries of seagulls and the gentle lapping of water against the harbour walls.

Slemish Mountain, its summit breaking through the mist, stood above fields lightly dusted with snow.

It wasn’t the snow or the mist that made me stop, but the light; dark sky looming in the distance while sunlight bathed the grasses, bringing out their beautiful, vibrant colours.

'The Gift' © Amanda Wade Photography 2025

On this new photography page I will not just be posting landscape images, it will be a variety of work.

During the first snowfall here, I managed to capture a photo of a beautiful little robin. I like to think of it as a visit from someone in spirit saying hello. As the verse goes, “When robins appear, loved ones are near.”

This charming robin followed me from tree to tree, so of course, I couldn’t resist taking a few shots of it.

Sunrise at Ballintoy Secret Beach with great motion in the waves.

It wasn’t the most breath taking sunrise I’ve witnessed, but the soft, muted colours still created a beautifully serene shot.

A stunning sunset at Blackhead Lighthouse, with the moon glowing in the background. The vibrant contrast of colours was breath taking, and I loved how the curve of the wall naturally drew the eye toward the lighthouse.

'Sunset Storm' © Amanda Wade Photography 2025

The spectacular view from Portstewart Strand captures the stormy sunset over Mussenden Temple in the distance, with the rush of the incoming tide adding to the scene’s beauty.

'Rotation' © Amanda Wade Photography 2025

The Aurora Borealis and star trail photography have been on my bucket list for years. This particular evening, I was lucky enough to capture both.

While the star trail may not be the most spectacular you’ll ever see, I’m thrilled with it because it’s my first time capturing both in one shot. Location: O'Rourke's Cafe in Ballintoy.

'Nature's Canvas' © Amanda Wade Photography 2025

This photo was captured during a recent trip to Snowdonia, Wales.

The rain had just stopped, and the sun broke through for a few minutes, casting stunning light and shadows that brought out the vibrant colours.

It’s definitely one of those perfect ‘right place at the right time’ moments.

'The Bridge' © Amanda Wade Photography 2025

The bridge leads to the rocks ahead in Ballycastle, with a storm rolling in and creating large waves that crash over the hidden rocks, perfect for long exposure shots. The sky lacked much colour, but the clouds had incredible texture.
