Calling daring hair & make-up artists. ✨

I'm developing a long-form fine art photo and video series called The Goddess in You. It's a conversation across generations between two Brazilian-born artists — the dreamlike goddess paintings of Susan Seddon Boulet translated into portraits and short cinema of real women. Ten women, ten goddesses, six to twelve months of work.

I'm looking for a hair & make-up artist (or two) who lives for the unconventional. Sculptural hair, body paint, theatrical textures, raw beauty, the kind of looks that don't belong on a wedding mood board. This is fine art, not bridal. Editorial, not commercial. Painterly, not polished.

The goddesses on my shortlist include Pele, Yemanjá, Aphrodite, Kuan Yin, Inanna, Hathor, Oshun, Persephone, the Triple Goddess, Spider Woman and Lilith. Each will call for something distinct. Some ethereal, some fierce, some sensual, some sacred.

What's involved: 10 shoot days across 6 to 12 months (one goddess per shoot), mood boards and creative briefs developed together, full creative credit across all stills, video, behind-the-scenes and any final book. Paid collaboration, terms discussed individually. Tear sheets, motion content for your own portfolio, exhibition exposure.

The first three shoots are locked in for September 2026 at a studio in Gloucestershire. Pilot batch is Pele, Lilith and Aphrodite, chosen to cover three different energies (fire, dark wisdom, radiant love) so what we learn across the three will inform the seven that follow.

The team so far: myself as creative director and photographer, a personal stylist with strong PR and marketing ties, and the goddesses themselves being cast right now. You'd be joining early, shaping the visual direction with me from the start.

Based around Gloucestershire and the wider UK, most shoots within reasonable travel.

If this lights you up, send a portfolio or your Instagram and a couple of lines on which goddess archetype excites you most.

Which goddess lives in you? 🌙

This isn't a goddess photoshoot. It's a conversation across generations between two Brazilian-born artists — Susan Seddon Boulet's dreamlike goddess paintings translated into portraits and short cinema of real women, over the next six to twelve months.

I'm casting ten women for a fine art photographic and cinematic series called The Goddess in You. I'm not looking for models. I'm looking for women whose presence, quiet or fierce, young or old, already carries an archetype. Each woman will be paired with one goddess from a shortlist including Pele, Yemanjá, Aphrodite, Kuan Yin, Inanna, Hathor, Oshun, Persephone, the Triple Goddess, Spider Woman and Lilith. You don't need to know any of them yet. That's part of what we'll discover together.

Who I'm looking for: women of any age (20s through 70s+), any body type, any ethnicity, any background. Not professional models, though pros who feel personally drawn to a goddess are welcome. Comfortable in front of a stills and video camera, or curious to try. Open to bold, unconventional styling, hair and make-up. Available for one full shoot day in the next 6 to 12 months.

What's in it for you: a set of fine art portraits of yourself you'll keep forever, a short cinematic video that's genuinely yours, inclusion in any exhibition, online series and possible photo book. Not paid in cash. Paid in art, in the experience, and in the work you'll receive.

A note on care: goddesses like Pele, Oshun and Yemanjá come from living religious traditions. If you have personal or ancestral connection to any of these, I would especially love to hear from you. Cultural consultation is built into the project from the start.

The first three shoots are scheduled for September 2026 in a studio in Gloucestershire. Team so far: myself as creative director and photographer, personal stylist confirmed, hair and make-up artist joining shortly.

This isn't a casting in the cold sense. It's an invitation. I'd love to hear from you.

DM me, email, or comment below. Tell me a little about yourself and, if anything called to you from the goddess list above, which one and why.

Quem sabe faz a hora, não espera acontecer. Whoever knows, makes the moment, they don’t wait for it to happen.

Geraldo Vandré wrote that line in 1968, and it’s been sitting in the back of my head for years. This week I finally listened to it.

This is Creative Diary 01, the first of a series where I think out loud about the work. Fifteen years behind a camera, creating visuals with purpose and it’s taken until now for my own voice to show up. Turns out the inner voice doesn’t get quieter when you ignore it. It just shouts louder.

So: I’m listening. Let’s see where it goes.

LE SANDWICH.

Une obsession. Depuis 1856.

Frames from the Sandwich shoot that didn't make it.

For every shot you see in finished work, there are 20–40 that got rejected. Not because they were bad, but because they didn't fit the whole. Editing is mostly the discipline of letting good things go.

When you next reject a piece of your own work, treat it with respect. It got you to the next one.

Turning the phone off, turning adventure mode on!

Taking some proper time off, no shoots, no deadlines, no Creative Challenges. Just mud, bad tracks and the kind of thinking that only happens somewhere with awful phone signal.

Even the most convinced creative brain needs a battery swap occasionally. This is mine.

Back soon, probably with sand in the boot and better ideas than I left with.. hopefully.

Episode 4: The Setup.

The educational episode. Studio walkthrough. Lighting choices. The honest version of what actually went into this shot.

This sandwich is a simple subject, so the styling tricks stayed simple too: a blowtorch for the crust and to melt the cheese, and hot water behind the set for the steam.

The real challenge was the light, isolating separate patches away from the main source to build depth in layers rather than flooding the frame. That's why continuous light won over flash here, I needed to watch that depth build in real time.

Thursday: the hero photograph drops.

Episode 3: The Vision.

Before any camera comes out, this is where the actual plan gets made.

Walking through the elements the final shot needs, and sketching two possible angles before choosing one.

Setup and ex*****on next.

Episode 2 of Creative Challenge 2: The Concept.

Remember the sandwich I was daydreaming about? Here's where the daydream turns into an actual plan.

An ordinary supermarket sandwich. Photographed with the reverence of a 17th-century still life. Sold to you in a 30-second mock luxury advert that takes itself completely seriously.

Why? Because Caravaggio invented advertising lighting in 1601. The Dutch masters painted half-eaten food like it was the Eucharist. The visual grammar of “this is sacred” already exists. The question is what we point it at.

Welcome to LE SANDWICH.
