It's been another long time between drinks!

These 10 were taken 20 years ago on the 16th at Satenas AB during the celebrations for the 80th anniversary of the Swedish Air Force. For us Brits, it was a great show, with examples of lots indigenous types in the flying display. Just to hear and see living examples of Tunnan, Lansen, Draken & Viggen was a joy for the senses!

That means that on 1st July 2026, Flygvapnet will be 100 years old! Many happy returns in advance!

20 years ago yesterday JG71 "Richthofen" hosted a spotters day at Wittmund AB.

Obviously, the main reason for travelling was to catch the F-4Fs, but there were additional items on static display, too.

The weather forecast was bad all day, and that was precisely how it started, but it ended up being rather lovely.

10 snapshots from what was an excellent day out.

I know I said posts were going to be fewer and further between, but even I wasn't anticipating going cold turkey in quite the way I have. It's been a crazy busy period (in a good way) and this is the first opportunity I've had.

I missed the anniversary, but I thought we'd go back to an exceptionally good day at BA118 Mont-de-Marsan for the 2014 Recce Meet, 12 years ago last month. It wasn't just a Mirage F1 fest, but with their impending retirement looming, they were the primary prey! And boy did we fill our boots with them!

Today's a new PC day, so lots of time spent setting everything back up! It's quick!

These 10 were taken at Elmendorf AFB during a Red Flag Alaska launch 18 years ago back on the 15th.

Ted Stevens International Airport, Anchorage, has to rate as one of my happiest of happy places. Most of these have never seen the light of day before (though other images from sequences have). 18 years ago yesterday.

Evening all,

Just to let you know, there will be far fewer posts from me moving forward. I've spent well over 12 months posting almost daily, taking on board the suggestions from Facebook on steps to take to grow my following and increase reach.

The reality is, it takes a huge amount of effort to produce content and engage. Contrary to what FB tells me should be the case, reach has actually dropped since I've been posting more, and I feel like some of the posts that should (IMHO) have done better haven't really had the chance to breathe.

The equestrian side of my photography work has really taken off in the last 9 months, and I just don't have the time (or inclination, if I'm honest) to invest as much time as I have been in something that is now generating very minimal returns.

This isn't the end, but it is the start of a conscious, marked slowdown. Thanks to those of you have consistently liked, commented, and shared. It really is appreciated! 🙌🫶

Right, on to today's post! These 10 were taken at the start of an incredible trip to Alaska on this day back in 2008. They were all captured across visits to various operators at Fairbanks International Airport, most notably the awesome Everts Air and Brooks Fuel.

After spending the first part of 30/03/2016 at RAF Lakenheath, it was time to head across to RAF Marham for the arrival of Pinky from RAF Lossiemouth.

From memory (and that's all I have to go on), I seem to recall some minister (allegedly) flying in 031 on this day... (now) Sir Michael Fallon was Defence Secretary at the time, but there's no public record of it having been him. Might be the mind playing tricks.

Anyway, a productive couple of hours in changeable, but often very nice, conditions.
