It’s been 2 months since our end of year exhibition went live and a month since it ended and I’ve been dealing with life so this is me just posting about it!
Within//Withhold
My choice to use portraiture in my interpretation of the theme “Metamorphosis” allowed me to work one more time within my favourite genre of photography.
My series of portraits took a literal meaning of the word and considered the process of a caterpillar turning into a butterfly. I think that we all go through a form of metamorphosis at one point in our lives when trying to find our identities and as we grow.
Through this project I was able to explore the deep emotions that come with change and growth. This project allowed me to explore my skills and really push myself with the different stages that I photographed. I made some mistakes in the shooting but overall was able to learn from my mistakes and overcome them and create some images I am really proud of.
The images on display show people in different stages of metamorphosis. I wanted to show that people go through different stages at different times but we are all growing and changing.
I also want to thank all my models for dealing with all of my weird and wacky ideas and helping this project come to fruition.
My wonderful boyfriend for modelling for me, for holding me through the multiple breakdowns, giving his input and ideas and just being the strongest pillar of support.
The biggest and I mean biggest thank you to my mum. To driving me to college every morning, taking me to pick up prints and taking me to awards nights. Going on photoshoots to abandoned buildings! Helping me with the installation of the exhibition! Listening to my late night rants and crying fits of exhaustion. I don’t know how I would have survived these past two years in college without you🖤
