Thought I'd better do a new year post, make sure everyone knows I'm still here!

It was nice to finally go back to the Midland (I still remembered the first time when an extra *cake* turned up uninvited!).
There is access to a staircase with the original tiling now.

Holker Hall & Gardens was fantastic, would recommend for a day out if you find yourself nearby.
Fielden Hall in Todmorden showed again that a wedding doesn't have to be large to be enjoyable for the guests and great to photograph.
We were made very welcome by the staff at The Saddleworth Hotel who accommodated a themed wedding. I had a lot of fun afterwards enhancing some of the backgrounds to fit the theme.

I've been as quiet as a mouse in echoey churches, sung along with gospel services and worked with the charming The Snowdonia Celebrant & Snowdonia Elopements- North Wales for a lakeside ceremony.

For 2024/25 I'm really proud to still be getting some recommendations from weddings I photographed as many as 10 years ago to help keep things ticking over alongside bookings for a couple of new venues as well as being back to some I've enjoyed going to many times before.

A wonderful wedding to photograph.
Our congratulations to Natalie & Tom and my thanks to Jen for commissioning me to photograph three fantastic weddings in the family in not much over a year.
I recommended my friend Ben Harrison Media for the videographer and it was a perfect team up for me. I set up a photo for Ben to take the couple of photos with his drone.

Wedding at Holker Hall, in the Lake District

Here is a video that shows how lasers at events can damage CMOS sensors.
I ask the DJ can turn off any lasers for the first dance. The modern mirrorless cameras have the sensor exposed all the time the camera is on, just like a phone. The older DSLRs cameras default is to only expose the sensor when you take the photo. I have a spare older DSLR to use if required.
Was a little upset when a DJ said he'd turn them off but turned them back on right at the start of the first dance.
It's a minimum £400 repair bill if the sensor gets damaged but I don't trust any kit that's been taken to pieces so it means writing off a camera.
Proper spot lights look much better in photographs.

I don't do many photos with special effect filters, a handful each wedding perhaps. But with dancing, where there were glow sticks, having an unusual* diffraction filter that lives in the side pocket of my bag was super cool.

This time round, coding the website seems to have become a passion rather than a chore.
It should look much better than before on an iPad with retina images each sharpened at the perfect size.
There no doubt will be mistakes to correct, any feedback is welcome.

Went for a walk around Marsden and there is a lovely 1950s tea length dress in Rue Vintage at what seemed to be a more than fair price https://www.instagram.com/rue_vintage/
It was too small for me :) - approx size 8-10 waist, size 10 top.
Might suit someone?
