TOP PUBS IN BOWNESS & WINDERMERE

Both Bowness and Windermere have some great pubs where you can enjoy great craft b**r, often with a view of Lake Windermere and the fantastic scenery surrounding it.

My favourites are The Crafty Baa which is close to Windermere station for its huge range of craft b**rs from around the world and the Hole in t wall in Bowness for its incredible olde worlde charm and decent cask b**r.

Bowness itself is the main destination as there are quite a lot of pubs and bars in a relatively small area.

Lake View Garden Bar is a fantastic bar on Bowness Bay overlooking the lake and you can watch the boats coming and going.

The Angel Inn, Bowness does good food and b**r which you can enjoy on a multi level b**r garden overlooking the town.

Bowness Tap Rooms in the heart of town does good pizza and b**r.

The Royal Oak is a more traditional boozer doing a range of cask ales.

CARTMEL, CUMBRIA

Cartmel is famous as the home of Sticky Toffee pudding, Cartmel Races and also Cartmel Priory.

For me, this is where my ancestors on my grandmother's side came from and her parents got married at the Priory in 1914.

It's a small village yet it has become a big tourist attraction with pubs, cafes and the Michelin starred restaurants if going to the Races, the Priory and the village shop isn't enough.

Are these Lancashire's prettiest towns?

We have lots of picturesque towns across the Red Rose County including our county town of Lancaster (technically a city now).

On the Fylde, we have the coastal towns of Lytham and St Annes and the old market towns of Kirkham and Poulton.

Further inland, you have the small market town of Garstang and also Clitheroe in the Ribble Valley.

Let me know if you think any towns have been missed off the list.

ST ANNES SWIMMING POOL AND THE BOATING LAKE

I'm getting really annoyed with St Annes Swimming Pool remaining closed and the boating lake next to it being empty.

I'm not quite sure what the problem with the swimming pool is because it was fine earlier this year and it still looks fine inside today as shown.

Worse still, Fylde Council haven't given us an idea of when it will reopen and there is currently no public swimming provision in the local area because this council have always treated it as a low priority. They did try to get rid of both St Annes Pool and Kirkham Baths about 20 years ago which tells you everything you need to know.

Right next to it is this eyesore of an empty boating lake which has been empty most of the summer and again, there doesn't seem to be a plan for it.

In my fourth photo, you can actually see St Annes Town Hall where Fylde Council are based so the problems are literally staring at them in the face!

Truly Scrumptious Luxury Ice Cream have opened their Lytham shop today and it looks brilliant!
Just as in their Freckleton shop, they do a fantastic selection of ice creams, cakes, desserts, milkshakes etc.
It's a wonderful family business and I wish them all the best in their latest venture.
