Chelsea Embankment Tideway Site...one of the Thames Tideway Sites along the Thames is now completed! The Super Sewer is now covered up and slowly the sites will be completed. Tideway in keeping with Joseph Bazalgette's legacy has designed an enhancement to the environment creating a lasting legacy to celebrate the River Thames at the heart of London. This one at Chelsea has been beautifully finished with gorgeous lighting , a lovely place to sit and watch the river. I have included some images taken over 5 years including showing the connecting tunnel to the main shaft.

”GATES OPEN ON LONDON AND THE SUPER SEWER'
Previously in times of heavy rainfall untreated sewage would be discharged into the Thames from multiple outflows, and this week for the first time the new super sewer was used to avoid these discharges. Construction was carried at over 20 sites mainly along the river, the main tunnel running from Acton in the west to Abbey Mills in the east to join the Lea tunnel and then on to Beckton sewage treatment works.
I have been covering the construction of this project over 6 years and it has been one of most interesting projects that I have undertaken. From deep underground to up in the air capturing images and showing the tunnels which are actually rather beautiful, to new public realm spaces along the river.

Wow! just photographed the amazing facilities at the new Julian Hill Cricket centre at Merchant Taylors School. This week the seniors have been working closely with the Sports department drilling and preparing ahead of the upcoming season.

Glovers Barn was a derelict 15th Century Grade II listed barn on the ‘Historic Buildings at Risk’ register in need of a complete barn renovation to transform it from a dark, constrained dwelling to an open, inviting and functional abode.
The completed sustainable barn extension provides an unimposing addition to what was once feared as being at risk of ruin.
Stamos Yeoh Architects thoughtfully designed a rear south west glass extension and IQ glass provided minimal sightline framed sliding glass doors.

Another spectacular Tideway Site, this time at Chelsea Embankment. It is now possible to imagine how the Public Realm will look like when finished! Going up in a very high crane in a man rider over the Thames (wearing a life jacket), enabled getting a great three quarter view photograph of the Tideway site with the magnificent Chelsea Hospital in the distance. It almost look like a painted backdrop!
Joseph Bazalgette unveiled his vision for his London sewer system 150 years ago which included creating the lovely Chelsea, Victoria and Albert Embankments. Tideway in keeping with Bazalgette’s legacy has designed an enhancement to the environment and is creating a lasting legacy to celebrate the River Thames at the heart of London.

Amazing Construction at foreshore.I have taken Site photos for # Tideway Central for 5+ years and the tunnels are always awe-inspiring! At a recent trip to Blackfriars there was an amazing at the bottom of the shaft...see photos ! The construction guys are so hard working and its lovely to see a happy workforce at these central sites. Photography .. for Tideway
