I had the enormous pleasure of photographing Anice from Anice recently.
Her flower arrangements are so magical that it’s easy to forget they’re made with artificial flowers.

Before we met, I had a very different idea of what artificial flowers looked like. Slightly dusty, a little faded, and mostly found in places that had seen better days!

Then I saw Anice’s work and everything changed.
She told me that when she creates installations, she often has to tell people they can actually touch the flowers because no one realises they’re not real.

And the magic isn’t only in the flowers. Anice herself has the same warmth and creativity, the kind of person who makes you feel at ease within minutes.
It was such a pleasure to spend time with her and photograph what she does.

Have you ever tried to get your Google Business Profile verified? Let me tell you if you hadn't. It's a nightmare.

I finally managed it after trying for what felt like forever!
Google would only give me the video verification option, but every time I tried, it failed because it couldn’t recognise the microphone or the camera or the weather, who knows.
But what I do know is that until I got verified, I couldn’t properly update my profile.
And I couldn't get Google reviews are, which are so important.
Nothing builds trust quite like the words of real clients.
Luckily, I know that many of my clients have said some wonderful things about their experience with me, but now it’s time to let Google (and its algorithms!) know too.

So… if you’ve worked with me and have a minute, I’d really appreciate a review. https://g.page/r/CZ-3_7ga8k98EAI/review

Do you bother leaving Google reviews? Or do you read them before choosing a business?

Last week I met Kate Lycett and incredible artist based on . It was such a nice morning getting to know her story, her art and her work.
Felt privileged to visit her home studio and seeing her paint while we chatted. Her unique style is quite easy to recognise and the footprints on her art are like a wink to the spectator. You don’t need to read the signature to know it’s hers.
As an artist myself I aspire to have such a recognisable style. We are unique and nothing better than expressing it through art.
More of the lovely photos we created to come.
Thank you Kate I really enjoyed working with you.

Today is the solar eclipse and seeing all the many option people are posting online of how to watch it I thought I better advise not to use your phone to watch it in selfie mode as Ive seen suggested in many forums and posts. Using your photo to watch the eclipse will permanently destroy your phone's camera sensor.

A gift for you grab this amazing Guide! Six ways to boost your visibility & get more clients!
It's Monday, it's the summer holidays, and in my mind it's time for action, somehow the summer break gives me the space to concentrate on the tasks I never find time for during the busiest months. If that resonates with you, I've got a gift to get some good action going.

I studied journalism as my degree and started as one before I decided to dedicate 100% of my time to photography. Old habit dies hard, though: I still can't help asking questions.

So I started asking business owners one question on repeat: what's actually stopping you from being seen?

Almost never strategy. Almost always hiding. A logo where a face should be. Stock photos standing in for the real thing. Years of brilliant work with barely any proof of it.

So I put together a free guide, six things I tell my own clients before we've even picked a date for a shoot. Practical, no jargon, just what actually gets you seen and gets you booked.

Subscribe below and I'll send it straight over.

Perfectly lit. Technically flawless and completely forgettable.
I’ve seen plenty of photos like that. But not under my watch!
When I first started photographing people, I realised something, knowing how to use light isn’t the same as knowing how to make someone feel seen.
I trained as a journalist before I ever picked up a camera, and I think that’s shaped everything I do now.
I’m naturally more interested in people than poses. Before I think about locations or outfits or shot lists, I want to know who you are. What you’re building. Why you care about it. What you want people to understand when they land on your website or Instagram.
Because that’s where the good photos come from, Not from telling someone where to put their hands.

The thing clients say to me most isn’t, “I love the lighting.”
It’s, “You made me feel comfortable.”
Or, “These actually feel like me.”
Or, “I finally have photos that tell the story I wanted people to see.”
That’s the bit I care about.
The camera is just the tool. The conversation is where the photographs really start.

Traveling around India many years ago Ive me an amazing photographer who was documenting the life of the Gurus and Sadus in Rishikesh. He told me he’s first encounters were always without the camera and that really stayed with me. He chatted till the connection was there and when he actually did the photos, they forgot the camera was around.

Happy Yorkshire Day!

To the rolling hills, beautiful market towns, creative businesses, and wonderful people who make this place so special, thank you for making Yorkshire feel like home.
In 3 years we had so many amazing family adventures. Tons of road trips where I have to ask everyone to stop because the landscape is just too beautiful not to photograph and amazingly there’s still so much more to explore and enjoy.
I sometimes feel a connection with this land that’s hard to explain. I jokingly say that maybe on a past life I lived I a cottage lost on the dales. Who knows.

But what I do know is that I’m so grateful to call Yorkshire and particularly Richmond, home
