I think people often assume a branding shoot is simply a photographer turning up with a camera and taking beautiful photos. But honestly, there’s so much more happening behind the scenes.

During every shoot, Abi is everywhere at once. She’s adjusting outfits, moving props, checking colours, directing poses, spotting details most people (including me) would miss, and making sure everything feels natural and aligned.

As our art director, she isn’t just thinking about how an image looks, but how it feels. The story it tells. The personality behind the brand. The emotions someone feels when they land on a website, open an email or scroll past an image.

While I’m focused on capturing the image, she’s focused on shaping it.

One tiny adjustment can completely change a photograph. A sleeve rolled up, a product moved slightly, a subtle shift in posture. Small details that, together, create images that feel intentional, authentic and unmistakably you.

One of my favourite parts of every shoot is watching someone try to describe an idea they’ve carried for months, then seeing Abi bring that vision to life. It’s the difference between photos that simply look good and visuals that genuinely communicate who you are and what your brand stands for.

Creative direction is often invisible when it’s done well. People see the final photographs, but not the hundreds of decisions that shaped them.

But I can tell you this: the results would never be the same without it. Because branding photography isn’t really about taking photos. It’s about creating visuals that communicate who you are before you’ve said a single word.

That’s why creative direction isn’t optional. The magic happens because each of us gets to operate in our strengths, and our clients benefit from that every single time. ✨

I really wasn’t planning on posting twice today but this morning’s community call hosted by .creative.studio left me feeling really emotional in the best way.

As you already know, the past few months were some of the hardest I’ve walked through personally, and honestly, this season has shown me more than ever just how important real community is. I’m not talking about surface-level support. But genuine, like-minded and like-hearted people who truly live with intention, kindness and care.

One thing I keep thinking about is how much Abi, Amy and the whole Rebrandr team truly walk the talk. I was expected to be replaced ( which I would have 100% agreed with and even suggested to Abi ) but instead, they waited for me. They supported me both emotionally and practically. They gave me the time and space I needed to heal properly without pressure, guilt or expectation. I felt carried, respected, protected and loved. And our clients… the kindness, patience and understanding they’ve shown me over these past months is something I honestly don’t think I’ll ever forget.

The more I reflect on it all, the more I realise how rare it is to find a place of work where people genuinely care about you as a human being first. A place where healing is valued. A place where support actually looks like support. And I don’t take any of it for granted.

And this morning just reminded me again how grateful I am to be building something alongside people who lead with heart, intention and genuine care for others and I really, really wanted to share this with you so I could honour .creative.studio out loud. Because I personally believe honour should exist behind closed doors just as much as it does in public spaces. 🫶🏻

Life moves so quickly, and it’s easy to miss how special the ordinary moments really are while we’re living them. I know these days won’t last forever… I don’t want to rush through them without really being present for them. I want to hold onto the beauty of this season while we’re still in it. Sometimes I photograph these moments, sometimes I don’t. But either way, they’re my way of stopping for a second, being fully present, and holding onto these little pieces of life for as long as I can. 🌿

Just under a year ago, I had the privilege of spending the day with the most beautiful family on their slow-growing farm. The kind of place that reminds you how deeply connected we are to the land, to the seasons, and to the care that goes into the food we bring to our tables. The cows grazing peacefully in the fields, the pigs wandering freely, the slower rhythm of life… it all felt so grounding and meaningful. There is something incredibly moving about witnessing the love and intention behind everything they do. From their handmade cheeses to their beautifully crafted charcuterie, every detail carries a story of patience, respect for nature, and genuine craftsmanship. In a world that moves ever sooooo fast, spending time with people who choose to work in harmony with the earth feels really special. A much needed reminder that some of the best things are still made slowly, thoughtfully, and with heart. Thank you for having me. 🫶🏻🌿
