Throwback Wednesday.

After decades working on the world’s oceans, I have witnessed first-hand the devastating degradation of our seas. But I’ve always believed that a message of doom and gloom alone rarely inspires positive action.

For me, Art and Sustainable Art in particular, became a more powerful way to communicate. A way to create conversation, reflection and ultimately an opportunity to change.

For centuries, sails were the engine of discovery, carrying mankind across oceans and shaping our understanding of the world. Today, those same sails can become a platform for communication as Sail Sculptures
transformed into works of Art, preserving stories of human endeavour, history and heritage, while also encouraging environmental debate.

Whether owned by a sailor, an art collector or an industrialist, the story of the sail lives on.

As HRH King Charles arrives in America, the sail sculpture titled Rule Britannia by artist Kos Evans begins its own transatlantic journey - arriving in the USA this summer for the 250th Anniversary of American Independence.

At the artwork’s core is a rare surviving 1934 fragment of the mainsail from King George V’s yacht Britannia which was scuttled by order of the King off the Isle of Wight on 10th July 1936, combined with a carbon fibre section of the double-skinned mainsail of Sir Ben Ainslie’s Britannia from the 36th America’s Cup. The juxtaposition of the two pieces represents the forefront of modern racing technology 90 years apart.

Rule Britannia is currently on display at the Royal Yacht Squadron, the current Challenger of Record and host of the first “America’s Cup” race in 1851, before boarding a ship from Southampton to New York.

Wonderful to share a feature on Rock & Royals 2026, showcased at the prestigious Yacht Club de Monaco. It was a true honour to host my premier exhibition in such an iconic setting, presenting sustainable artworks created from famous and historically significant yacht sails.

The exhibition also supported ocean conservation, with an important donation made to ‘Oceans Without Borders’, helping protect the seas that inspire this work.

I was deeply honoured to welcome Prince Albert II and the Commodore of YCM Bernard d’Alessandri to the exhibition, alongside many wonderful guests who made the occasion so special.

Grateful for the support, the conversations, and the shared commitment to our oceans. 🙏🏼

Where it all began. Climbing masts was a new angle a birds eye view of racing yachts. This became my trade mark, headed up with the America’s Cup and the first ever 12 metre masthead images.

New Year edits - Throw Backs! photography without GoPro’s even digital. The joy of putting yourself in the thick of it, learning about your limitations, but also the drive to always think differently. Having the reward by creating something new and exciting through imagery for others to enjoy, has always been a goal of mine. Rock & Royals exhibitions America's Cup
