Cirsium rivulare often appears at Chelsea Flower Show but this one, Cirsium rivulare ‘Trevor’s Blue Wonder’ comes from ‘After the Rain’, a sculptural, immersive border designed by Thomas Olsen, part of Blooming Border Planting Ideas at RHS Malvern Spring Festival 2026.
The pink flowers hold brilliant tension between wild and refined and bring romantic softness to naturalistic planting, floating lightly through grasses and perennials.

Something of mine for a good cause ❤️NGS

Only one week remains until our National Garden Scheme Open Day. For nearly a century, the National Garden Scheme West Sussex has invited people into gardens across the country, raising funds for nursing and health charities through the simple generosity of opening up these beautiful spaces. It is a tradition rooted in care, and one we are pleased to be part of.

May is a wonderful time to explore the Garden, as rhododendrons and azaleas gather in abundance, flowering trees dot the landscape, and bluebells bring enchantment to shady places.

Is with great sadness that I learned of the passing of Professor Nigel Dunnett on Sunday 26 April 2026. The 2011 RBC New Wild Garden was his first main avenue show garden at Chelsea, a pioneering rain garden demonstrating sustainable urban water management. It was also my 2nd ever Chelsea Flower Show visit and his garden one of the first I photographed with my first DSLR Nikon D90. I met late Gary Rogers, the head of Professional Garden Association PGPA then and that’s how I got inspired to become a pro garden photographer. Such a loss for the horticultural community. My heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and everyone whose life he touched through his extraordinary gardens. 🌿❤️
