With a superb weather window opening up over Scotland this weekend, I knew I had another chance to return to Suilven.
This iconic mountain located in the heart of Assynt, is one of the most demanding mountain hikes in the UK. A 3 hour ramble in boggy conditions brings you to the side of the mountain. A further scramble up its steep slopes rewards you with one of the finest views along its curved ridge.
Seen here at sunset, this is perhaps my favourite of all the peaks in the UK. A sweet return after a failed attempt in 2016 due to my tent collapsing in a gale. Walk further, work harder, roam happy.
