Meeting someone successful is one thing. Finding out they’re genuinely a nice person too is rarer than it should be.

Mike Soutar told me about the first time someone recognised him after The Apprentice — and how he didn’t handle it as well as he’d have liked. So he made himself a promise: from then on, anyone who comes up to him and says “I’ve seen you on The Apprentice” leaves that encounter with a good memory. Every time.

We talked about the success, the challenges, all the different worlds he’s built. All of it was interesting. But it was that one small commitment to how he treats a stranger that told me who he actually is.

This week I was incredibly honoured to receive the A-Player Award from Big Business Entrepreneurs.

Awards are never really about a single moment. They’re about the people you meet, the lessons you learn, the challenges you overcome, and the commitment to keep improving every day.

Over the years I’ve been fortunate to work with hundreds of business owners and professional photographers, helping them build stronger, more profitable businesses. Every conversation, every success story, and even every setback has taught me something valuable.

One thing I’ve learned is that growth never stops. The moment you think you know it all is the moment you stop moving forward. I’m constantly investing in learning new skills, challenging my own thinking, and finding better ways to help others succeed.

So, whilst I’m incredibly proud to receive this recognition, I’m even more excited about what’s next.

A huge thank you to all the team & coaches at Big Business Entrepreneurs for this honour, and to everyone who has trusted me, supported me, challenged me, and shared this journey with me. You all play a part in moments like this.

Here’s to continuing to learn, continuing to grow, and helping even more businesses achieve the success they deserve.

If you are interested in joining me in a free Masterclass where I share 3 actionable tips to help photographers improve your sales please put a 🔥 in the comments. Thank you

Are you giving your clients a full-service experience?
Are you letting them walk away with images only to be seen on an uncalibrated screen?
Are you giving them a true legacy of one of the biggest, most important days of their lives?

Here's what the Vice President of Google — the man who literally helped build the internet — says about how safe your clients' files really are.

Vint Cerf calls it the digital dark age. Because bits aren't magic. They're not floating safely in "the cloud." They're physical — stored on a hard drive, a phone, a server somewhere — and every one of those things fails. The reader fails. The format fails. The software that made sense of the file stops existing. Ask anyone who's tried to open a file from a 3.5" floppy disk lately.

Your clients aren't paying you for a folder of files they'll lose the next time they upgrade their phone, or a hard drive that quietly dies in a drawer. They're paying you to capture the biggest day of their lives.

If you're not having the album conversation with every client, you're not giving them the full service they're paying for — and you're leaving their memories one hard-drive failure away from gone. Share this with your clients if they say they only want files.

Files are a delivery method. An album is a legacy.

Had such a great time last week catching up with Lee McQueen (yes — The Apprentice winner and Alan Sugar's business partner!) at the Gold Circle event. 🙌

Lee's coaching has genuinely shaped how I think about and run my business over the past 18 months, and getting time with him in person is always a boost — new ideas, sharper focus, and a reminder of why investing in your own growth matters.

Thank you, Lee, for the time, the insight, and the continued support. Excited to put it all into practice!

Some days remind you why you do what you do.
This week I had the pleasure of helping to bring together two people whose work and thinking I admire enormously – photographer Stuart Wood and Rory Sutherland together with his wonderful wife, Sophie – for a day of photography and conversation in the lovely south coast of the UK.

Watching Stuart create portraits of Rory and Sophie was a privilege in itself, but what made the day truly special were the conversations we all shared between photographs.
Much of our discussion centred around something I have believed passionately for over 25 years: that our greatest life moments deserve more than a place on a phone.

Rory's unique perspective on human behaviour, value and emotion made for a fascinating exchange of ideas. We explored why printed photographs matter, why albums become family heirlooms, and how we can better communicate this to both the public and the professional wedding and portrait photography community.

The irony isn't lost on any of us. We have never taken more images than we do today, yet so few will ever be experienced in a meaningful way. A beautifully crafted print or album transforms an image into a photograph, something people return to, share with family and ultimately pass down through generations.

Thank you, Rory and Sophie, for being such generous company, and thank you Stuart for producing what I know will be some exceptional photographs.

Days like this reinforce why I remain so passionate about helping photographers create not just beautiful images, but lasting legacies.
Memories deserve to be held, not just stored.

Photographers - What if the way YOU move and speak is silently costing you bookings?
I recently spent time with David JP Phillips after his masterclass and it genuinely shifted how I think about client communication.
David has studied 110 human behavioural gestures - the unconscious signals we all send and receive without realising it.

When he demonstrated how we react to certain gestures and body language in real time, the penny dropped immediately: this isn't just presentation theory. This is about how your clients feel in your presence, whether they trust you, and whether they book you.
I'll be bringing these lessons into my next workshop with Chris Denner Wedding Photography - because understanding human behaviour is one of the most underused tools in a photographer's business.
I
f you want to book more clients, communicate with more confidence, and really connect with the people in front of your lens - this is for you.
