Truly awesome story out of Chile today for a world on a war footing; the first images taken by the world’s most powerful camera and revolutionary telescope the Vera Rubin. Timely reminder of how truly insignificant we are. This camera has 3,200 megapixels, (67 times more than an iPhone 16 Pro Camera) making it so high resolution it could capture a golf ball on the moon and would require 400 Ultra HD screens to show a single image. Currently most data from stars goes back about 163,000 light years but Vera Rubin could see back 1.2 million light years. The camera inside the telescope will repeatedly capture the night sky for ten years, every three days for a Legacy Survey of Space and Time.

I am delighted to be selling fine art prints of some of my pictures of the park taken during my ‘artist in residency’ in 2022 tomorrow in Wimbledon’s Cannizaro Park. Printed on a variety of gorgeous archival grade papers - from Bamboo 290gsm to Hahnemuhle & Museum Heritage, framed and unframed. Cannizaro is one of London’s hidden gems of a green space we do our best not to keep a secret! Tomorrow is an annual opportunity to come and buy affordable work from a host of brilliant local artists. Bring your children too. A huge array of creative activities are on offer. Hope to see you there! My postcards of the park will also be on sale with 25 percent of proceeds going to The Friends of Cannizaro .park without whom this little patch of paradise would not exist. 🙏 🌸

What’s in a smile, what’s in a Queen?

Always loved the memory of this picture I took, devoid of royalist sentiment & digital manipulation, photographing Charlse and Camilla’s state visit to Zanzibar 8 November 2011. This happened to fall on my 40th birthday, Charlse our King was close in his b’day and the connection was smooth and joyous.

Wish them both an abundance of blessings. A tall order has been bestowed …..

‘Souls Grown Deep By The Rivers’ - a gut-grabbing, mind-bending exhibition that represents the work of Black artists from the American south in ground breaking cultural context. Emotions run as high as low and deep down to my own roots with oldest friends at the opening last night; guests, relatives and last but not least dearest friend and curator and my own gorgeous daughter doing the thing as ya outtta!

What a gift from this magnificent creature - a good 15 minutes literally playing hide and seek in the kelp in a cove off Lundy island. Such connection, nibbling our flippers, bobbing up above surface then diving down and showing off her camouflage. Thank you for an unforgettable experience. Thank you Ed for the photo! And most of all thank you to this seal for all her curiosity & friendliness.
