Photographed by Zoe Spencer - Elenydd is an upland area of west-central Wales, extending across parts of Ceredigion and Powys between Aberystwyth and Rhayader. The area is an upland plateau within the Cambrian Mountains, source of the rivers Elan, Severn, Teifi, Towy and Wye.

I have just discovered that the dam in the Elan Valley once powered hydroelectric generators to power the electric light...

I have just discovered that the dam in the Elan Valley once powered hydroelectric generators to power the electric lights during its construction of the Elan village back in 1893-1904! Isnt that amazing - We were once ahead of our times!! This river the Afon Elan , lies right at the heart of Elenydd and flows into the dam.
