Jennifer Platt Photography

Jennifer Platt Photography An aspiring lifestyle photographer, focusing on children and family location portraits, based in the North West of England. It is the most beautiful sight.

Sometimes I can get lost in time, just sitting and watching my daughter play. Laughter and joy, fascination and exploration, cheekiness and even stubbornness; these are the natural and spontaneous moments which we see every day in our children and yet can be all too easily forgotten with the passage of time. This is why I love photography. It allows me to capture such precious fleeting moments and

protect them as cherished mementos for years to come. It is true that a good photograph remembers little details long after they have been forgotten. Through my photography, I aim to create beautiful images of the natural interactions of children and families which capture the true essence of who they are at this single moment in time.

To get me picking my camera up more often, and continue to develop my skills, I decided to take part in a photography challenge, which gives a different theme each week. This weeks theme was 'SOFT' and this is my interpretation (with my ever willing, and gorgeous model Tabitha) - let me know what you think!!!

It's been a little while since I picked up the camera, but when I finally did this week, Matilda was desperate to pose for me - although she wasn't keen to smile!
I think she looks beautiful anyway.

Whilst editing images from a recent wedding (which I am dying to share soon!!) I had a little go at designing a new logo for my photography - I'm far from a designer, but generally quite pleased with it!

Having enjoyed taking photographs for as long as I can remember, a couple of years ago I finally decided to get myself a proper camera and learn how to use it. As a new mum, and someone who works full-time, an evening class was the only option for me, so I signed up for two courses at my local college: Digital Image Capture and Digital Image Manipulation. I have just found out that I achieved a Distinction classification for both portfolios. I must admit, I feel rather proud of myself.

Here are the photos of my beautiful daughter Matilda from my course portfolio – let me know what you think…

When I started studying I was drawn to portraiture and lifestyle photography, especially photographing children. I therefore knew that if I was to take photography serious, I needed to specialise.

In order to start on a solid footing, I decided to go to the experts. I had read some really good feedback from people who had completed training through Aspire Photography Training, so I was really pleased to see that they did a one day course called Little Rascals, focussing on photographing children. And even better, it was being led by Kate Hopewell Smith, a photographer who produces such beautiful lifestyle images that you can’t help but be inspired.

So, on a (thankfully) sunny day in June, I arrived at the Aspire Training location in the Lake District. Here are some of the photos that I took on this training day – let me know what you think…

Mia and Olivia (affectionately known to most as Livvy) aren’t just spectacularly beautiful girls, they are also really fun kids – which made this, my first proper photo shoot, really enjoyable. I met up with them in a local park on a Saturday afternoon in June and stumbled across a lovely little clearing on the edge of the woods, complete with logs and a rope swing. Just perfect for this shoot.

Here are the photos from this session – let me know what you think…

I've never been to the Fairy Glen before, but I was hopeful it would be the perfect place for an autumnal Daddy and Daughter mini-shoot... And it was!
