A young Herring Gull glides through the harbour waters, unaware of the psychedelic 😵‍💫 waters surrounding it. I’ve always been a big fan of reflective waters and Lerwick Harbour can be excellent for finding mesmerising boat reflections.

Two of my favourite autumn waders, Curlew Sandpiper and Little Stint, feeding together at Pool of Virkie yesterday. A large number of waders gathered including 3 Little Stint, 4 Curlew Sandpiper, Sanderling, Dunlin, Turnstone, Black and Bar-tailed Godwits. 🍂

Lovely family event evening last night with Shetland Rockpool Safaris this time in Lerwick for some quality rock pooling! We’ve been out a number of times with Matt and Beth now and really enjoy it with something different discovered on every tour. This was my favourite of the many marine animals encountered yesterday though the Solar Powered sea slugs, Sea lemons and squat lobsters were also pretty impressive!

Aegires punctilucens is a tiny, rare sea slug recorded in the marine waters around Shetland. This small dorid nudibranch grows up to 20 mm. It features knob-like bumps and striking iridescent blue spots, and hides among calcareous sponges.
