The Monument to Grace Darling resides in the churchyard of St Aidan's Church, Bamburgh, to commemorate her heroic rescue of 9 ship wrecked sailers in 1838. Here it is back lit by the 2025 New Year's Day, Northern Lights.

The display last night took me by surprise and I just arrived as things were starting to calm down from their peak. Still, I'm pleased with the atmospheric image.

This view of Dunstanburgh Castle, from the end of Crater harbour to the south, has always seemed like a framed picture to me. The castle and coastline perfectly framed by the weathered concrete.

Bamburgh Lighthouse under the stunning aurora that appeared tonight. Quite simply an awe inspiring display, with the colours and dancing lights visible to the naked eye.

Such a privilege to watch and so fortunate for it to literally be on our doorstep.

Up and off early this morning. Even though it didn't look like the sky would do anything, for about 15 minutes, just for before sunrise, it turned a beautiful pinky purple.

It felt like a long time since I'd been out with a camera. Took me a while to remember how to work it (plenty of mistakes made). Still, with Bamburgh Castle and beach just 10 minutes away from home, I've got plenty of opportunities to practice. 😉

First shoot of the year completed at MAD STORY with Andy Veryinkydude Taylor Boocock and Andi Coates.

Great to be back shooting fashion photography in the new studio space. The light in the old mill is awesome and though sometimes it can be troublesome, when you use it to your advantage, you can achieve some creative images.
