I didn't have a great year for photography in 2022, I was so busy on other projects. But this year I'm definately going to get out into the hills more with the camera.

This one's from a memorable wild camp with a client up on Wetherlam in the Lakes early in the year. Stunning sunrise that morning, with Coniston in the distance.

Also my new updated website is live. Prints, photography tuition, guided photo days etc, all available through the website.

Not long now until Orion disappears from our night sky until next winter. This shot was taken under a lovely dark sky here in the Scottish Borders. Composite of two shots, one for the foreground during twilight, and the second exposed for the sky a few hours later.

I ran a 1-2-1 astrophotography workshop last week under the dark skies of Kielder Forest. We had perfect conditions for it, and Dave went home with some great shots having learnt a lot about focusing at night, camera settings, composition and we even had some fun with a bit of light painting. I managed to grab a couple of shots, this one is looking over Kielder Water with the Milky Way shining bright and our closet neighboring galaxy Andromeda in the top left.

Now I know this is a very clichéd shot, and composition. But I just couldn't resist seeing as there was some lovely rays of light shining on Derwent Island.

🌠 The winter milky way ✨

I do love a winter night sky. The long dark nights bring us a host of astronomical wonders, such as Pleiades seen here towards the top right of the first image, and of course Orion, which is just rising to the right of the trees.

Shot under a stunning night sky a couple of nights ago here in the Scottish Borders 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Helvellyn is possibly my favourite spot for sunset in the Lakes. We weren't treated to a spectacular one this time round, but there was some nice bits of light to play with. This image is looking down towards Whiteside in the foreground, with Blencathra and Skiddaw in the distance.

It was a pleasure to guide these two lovely people across the Corridor Route yesterday on a photography workshop. The weather played ball so it was another stunning day in the mountains

Composite or Photoshop haters scroll on by, total artistic license had on this one.

Composite of two images, taken by me obviously. The foreground taken just the other night by our house, the snow had formed these amazing humps over the tussocky ground. The sky that evening wasn't great so I've replaced it with a multi image Milky Way pano I shot up here about a year ago.
