10x8 Tintype
Photography by Paul Chambers

A truly unique experience and one I shan't forget. I was incredibly fortunate to have had my portrait taken back in June by Paul Chambers at his studio in St Peter Port, Guernsey. I recorded the process of the plate developing through the liquid to reveal this serene portrait of me emerging through the fog.

Thank you

This time last week, James Kail and I celebrated the last day of our exhibition, 'Making an Honest Living' with George from Bailiwick Blue, who generously donated their time and materials in producing this informative and engaging indigo dyeing/printmaking workshop.

Thank you to everyone who attended this fantastic workshop and to the Guernsey Arts Commission for the Greenhouse Gallery exhibition space, organising the workshop through eventbrite, providing the marquee, tables, chairs and set up.

There was incredible artistic talent on display last week as we learnt about indigo dyeing & printmaking, hosted by George from Bailiwick Blue and James Kail.

Silk handkerchiefs, paintings, stencils and prints were made with entirely natural materials, using Japanese plants, shells and a variety of found materials from ferns to feathers. One leaf was even sourced from the Governor's house!

George from Bailiwick Blue inspired me today. I was fortunate enough to receive a tour of her greenhouse. I wish I had the memory to remember all the names of the plants that were mentioned!

This is how life should be lived, growing and picking fresh fruit and veg from organic soil. Thank you for the cucumber George

Tomorrow, I will be documenting the procedure for producing pigments from the japanese plant pictured in image two and three.

The workshop taking place at Candie Gardens tomorrow is sold out! Thank you to eveyone who bought a ticket. The funds help support artists in Guernsey working on their creative practice Guernsey Arts Commission

My obsession at the moment are these daisies (Erigeron Karvinskianus). I love how hardy they are, growing from cracks in the walls.

They cover large areas in St Peter Port, Guernsey and I recently started noticing them in Edinburgh on my way to work too.

I've joined the Men's Shed this week, although it's not just men. It's a shed of opportunity and kindness. Members have access to woodworking, stained glass and pyrography to name a few.

I was shown how to cut glass today for a new artwork I'm working on. I will document the progress as it happens!
