Our tour of Derbyshire villages continues, we have visited Osmaston and the old saw mill. Tissington and Tissington Hall with a quick visit to Parwich on the way home.

Part 3 sees us in Ashford in the Water (it was busy and I feel the pics dont do the village justice) then to Foolow. Who knew Foolow was as lovely as it is!

We do love a music festival here at Owd Buss T'Ales and we have been supporters of Nah Then Festival since 2021. Its a great little festival, oozing with great bands & artists with a variety of food vendors.

Douglas loves it too!

Tissington.
A small village nestled in the Derbyshire countryside on the edge of The Peak District. Beautiful!
Its also home to Tissington Hall, family home of the FitzHerbert's, who have lived there for over 400 years.
The Tissington Trail is on the edge of the village and from there you can walk to Ashbourne or Hurdlow in the other direction.

Osmaston Watermill / Sawmill.

We've talked about looking for this old watermill for a long while and today was ideal for an explore.

I have never been to Osmaston before and a very pleasant surprise awaited us. What a lovely village, lots of houses with thatched roofs and a village pond. This had dried up, sadly.

And we found the watermill too!

Ludlow.

Who's been to Ludlow, we had not visited until last week and it was a nice town, very friendly feel to it. A lovely castle, lots of old buildings and a proper market!

We stayed on a campsite, North Farm Campsite. I would recommend a stay here and the views are amazing, looking out over Ludlow Castle and the town, Clee Hills, Long Mynd Hills and Stiperstones all in the distance.

The facilities are great, spotless all of the while we stayed. Showers lovely and warm, pitches have hook ups and have ample space for a campervan / motorhome with an awning.

What I would say is whilst on a sunny day its a nice walk into Ludlow, rainy days would mean taking your vehicle or getting an Uber as there is no bus service.

Who's up for a campsite review?

Small Batch Campsite, Little Stretton, Shropshire.

We stayed for two nights last week and what a gem it is, set in a lovely location right beside The Long Mynd Hills, the views looking up are amazing.

The campsite itself has the usual facilities, ladies and gents toilets, showers, washing up facilities. All kept clean and tidy with hot water a plenty.

Pitches are quite large, plenty of room on each, electric hook up's are available. Grass pitches at that. And looked after, no long grass to contend with!

There are two pubs close by, The Ragleth Inn and The Green Dragon (which does lovely food and nice beers & wines).

A return is on the cards for us and I would highly recommend a visit!
