Shy photos, Kingston upon Hull (2026)

Hello!

This past Sunday, I had the absolute honour of being invitited to take photos for Hulls Angels Roller Derby - HARD and Arcadia Roller Derby and what a fantastic experience it was! It was my first time shooting an actual event rather than just training sessions, and it turned out to be completely hectic… but unbelievably fun!

Watching both teams go head-to-head in such a friendly yet fiercely competitive way was an absolute joy. I have to admit there aren't as many photos this time because I was genuinely caught up in the excitement of the game. You all played brilliantly!

Massive congratulations to both teams – you were amazing out there. I truly hope to see many more of these events in the future. Thank you so much for having me along!

Hey there! It’s been a little while.

I've been sitting on these photos for longer than I'd like to admit! At first, I wasn’t sure whether to post them, as this is my first real attempt at shooting photos of people, especially people who are constantly on the move, but i decided that as much as the training session is theirs, it could be mine as well.

After my first session, I quickly realised that my initial approach wasn’t going to work, at all, as such ive taken the time to learn more about the roller derby, the teams, postions, and really where I should be focusing my attention. Now (after 2 sessions...) I finally feel like I’m starting to get somewhere with some of these shots.

So, here are some photos I took during roller derby training sessions with Hulls Angels Roller Derby - HARD thanks for letting me shoot you guys!!

Here's some photography that I did from this weekend at a rally event in East Yorkshire, Beverley, it had an amazing turnout with plenty of spectators and drivers alike. Working under pressure and capturing the intensity of such a fast-paced events is always exciting. However I definitely underestimated how many cars would turn up and ended up filling my SD card completely! Next time, better preparation...
