🍺 A wee moment before the music…
Before sitting down for a wee interview, I caught Cammy Barnes enjoying a self-poured pint in the Clachan Bar at Strathpeffer Pavilion. A relaxed moment before the music, the conversation and the evening ahead.
🎶 Meet Cammy Barnes | Strathpeffer Pavilion
Some gigs are about more than just getting up on stage and playing. Sometimes, they’re about reaching a place you've wanted to play for a long time.
For Cammy Barnes, performing at Strathpeffer Pavilion was one of those moments. Having wanted to play the venue for years, taking to the stage was a special milestone in his musical journey. And with another opportunity to perform in the Highlands, Cammy was quick to share just how much he loves a Highland audience.
When reflecting on the highlights of his musical journey so far, Cammy picked out playing the legendary Barrowland Ballroom in Glasgow as a particularly memorable moment. It's clear that experiences like these hold a special place in his story as a musician.
It was also lovely to hear about the songs that mean the most to him.
One particularly special song is Bonnie's Song, written for his little girl. As time goes on, the song has taken on even more meaning for Cammy, especially when he looks out into the audience and sees children connecting with it.
There’s something lovely about a song that begins with such a personal story and goes on to mean something to other people, too.
Between the personal stories behind his music and the connection he builds with audiences, Cammy's performance at Strathpeffer Pavilion was a reminder of what live music is all about: the songs, the stories and the people who bring them to life.
It was a pleasure to meet Cammy, hear a little about his journey and capture some moments from the evening.
