A huge thank you to the Monolith Archeological Group, Anglesey, for inviting me to spend the afternoon with them at Bryn Celli Ddu for the Summer Solstice. It was a real privilege to capture some photos of such a special occasion and to learn more about the incredible work they do.
For those who may not know, Bryn Celli Ddu is one of Britain’s most significant Neolithic monuments. Built over 5,000 years ago, the passage tomb was carefully aligned so that, at sunrise on the Summer Solstice, the sun’s rays shine directly down the passage and illuminate the inner chamber. It’s an astonishing achievement that reminds us just how advanced our ancestors were.
The Monolith Archaeology Group is passionate about preserving and sharing our archaeological heritage through research, education, excavations and community events. If you have an interest in archaeology, ancient history or the incredible heritage we have here on Anglesey and across North Wales, I’d highly recommend giving them a follow and supporting the fantastic work they do.
A special thank you as well to Kalani, Sav and Chris. You were all so genuine, down-to-earth and an absolute pleasure to spend the afternoon with. I had great fun chatting with you about some of Anglesey’s local ghost hunting hotspots, so here’s hoping we’ll see you back on the island soon investigating a few of them! 👻
