If you’ve ever compared photography pricing and felt confused, this might help.
I don’t charge for photos. That line can sound strange without context, especially when you’re looking for family photography.
My work is rooted in storytelling photography, where the value isn’t in individual images, but in how they come together to tell a complete story.
Many family photography sessions are structured with a session fee and a small number of images included, with the option to purchase more afterwards. That’s a completely valid approach, and it works well for lots of families.
For my Family Chapters sessions, I don’t separate the experience from the images that come from it. Storytelling photography only works when the full narrative is there – the in-between moments, the details, the connections, and the parts you might not realise matter until later.
That’s why the full gallery is included from the start. When families compare what’s actually included, many are surprised to find this approach often works out as better value overall – with more images, fewer decisions, and complete clarity from the beginning.
There’s no pressure to choose favourites, no worry about missing moments, and no additional costs once you’ve already invested your time and energy. You receive the complete story of your family, just as it unfolded.
If you’re drawn to family photography that’s about preserving feeling rather than selecting a handful of images, this approach may be the right fit for you. And if you’re ever unsure, I’m always happy to talk it through.
